WHATS REALLY IN YOUR WALLPAPER? CREATIVE SUSTAINABLE OPTIONS FROM FUJIFILM
Wallpaper, the decorative staple of Interiors has witnessed an incredible reform thanks to the advances in Digital Print Technology.
Designers and Creatives worldwide have embraced the freedom offered for customised design which enables creatives to push the boundaries of Design for both Residential and Contract Interiors.
Paris, Maison Objet, the exhibition that unites the Interior Decor Industry in a celebration of all things creative and had a new exhibit this year.
FujiFilm presented an exciting presentation of all things Digital
Partnering with a number of leading consumable suppliers to the Interior Industry with a live demo of the Acuity LED 1600-ii print machine. This was an important step, and a first for Maison Objet. Whilst Digital is an established technology, the penetration of its application in the Interior Decor sector is still in its infancy, when compared to flexographic or gravure analogue printing.
The commercial opportunities for customised Wallcoverings and Decor are unprecedented. Bringing print to Maison Objet connects the manufacturer directly to the audience that utilises its technology, engaging conversation and inspiring creativity.
However, not all print technologies are equal
Fuji offers a sustainable, eco-friendly and importantly solvent free option. With sustainability at the heart of its development the Acuity LED 1600-ii ink set offers the Interior sector an Eco-Friendly print process. Inks are certified as sustainable and offer the Industry and vital alternative to Latex technology which often contain up to 30% solvent ink.
UV technology offers the Designer an inspiring toolbox and the ability to print onto many Interior substrates: Paper, Vinyl, Wood, Glass, Metal, Leather, Perspex, Window Blinds etc…the list is endless and in the hands of the creative community i’m sure this technology will generate some ground breaking products.
The FujiFilm UV print process offers an impressive colour gamut whilst also offering interesting options for printed White and Laquer.
Why is White important?
Because you can print onto pre-coloured substrates, which opens up the opportunities for the sourcing of pre-coloured grounds and textured media choices. Utilising printed laquer you can build a profile on your print to create your own texture or relief.
The Acuity LED 1600-ii also uses LED light to cure its inks, to offer instant drying, and without the need for high temperatures, you can now importantly print onto heat sensitive base substrates.
