Job Description:
We are currently looking for a talented and experienced assistant textile Designer to join our Homeware team. You will be part of the Design team responsible for delivering the exciting and on trend home vision for Marks and Spencer. We are looking for someone who is passionate about design and willing to push the product success to the next level!
You will work as part of an enthusiastic and fast paced team to support the acceleration of our home brand vision.

To design and assist on the textile categories M&S Home
To support and assist the Designer /Junior Designer in designing the total range and creating tech packs
To develop knowledge and skills within design and line management working towards the role of Designer
Key accountabilities and measures
Work alongside and support the Junior / Level D designers on the Textiles category
Demonstrates product design ability to interpret trends into commercial product direction under the direction of the level D/ junior designer to meet key brand handwriting strategy and price points.
Work with the Designers and team to meet critical path deadlines.
Work with and support the Designer to co-ordinate day to day activities and produce a high standard of technical specks across the Textile categories at industry standard.
Collaborate with the Buying /Technical team to agree the range/production techniques. Work with and support the Designer to co-ordinate day to day activities and produce a high standard of product design specks including application of prints and Artwork on PLM.
Understand print process (e.g., digital, rotary) with proficiency in developing and applying print and pattern design to textile developments.
Support the Textile design team with the coordination of everyday tasks.
Assist in creating Design boards / presentations and trends as part of the DPS to inspire and drive the brand handwriting and communicate key opportunities.
Supports designer research into trends under the direction of the designer and identify and communicate key opportunities. Respond to evolving trends to drive the product handwriting. Reacts to sales patterns to translate into winning designs.
Takes initiative to own product / product category under the direction of the Designer.
Demonstrates a clear understanding of the M&S customer and strong ability to anticipate their product needs.
Inputs into the Design Brief, strategies, range reviews and reviews as appropriate.
Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills.
Deputise for the JD / Designer as required
Proficient in Design IT applications to optimise the quality of design work e.g., Photoshop, illustrator, CAD, Kaledo etc
Key skills
Technically proficient textile designer with previous design experience within the industry
Has experience of Industry standard technical specification development
Can create and manipulate pattern onto product as required
Multitask orientated with the ability to work to tight deadlines to the critical path
High level of proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design
High standard of Artwork and technical specification Packs to send to Sourcing Office via PLM
Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
Ability to initiate and build strong relationships with Designers /Buying/ Technology Merchandising
