[JOBS] ASSISTANT DESIGNER - TEXTILES : MATALAN

Liverpool, England – August 2026 – Matalan, one of the UK's leading value fashion and homeware retailers, has announced the opening of a new Assistant Designer position within its Textiles division.

The permanent, full-time role will be based at Matalan's Liverpool headquarters and forms part of the company's broader commitment to strengthening its in-house design capability.

The newly created position will sit within Matalan's Design team, working closely with senior designers and buying colleagues to deliver commercially relevant seasonal ranges.

The successful candidate will take day-to-day ownership of defined product areas, translating emerging trends and customer insight into product that resonates with Matalan's broad consumer base.

The role reflects Matalan's ongoing investment in creative talent as the business continues to evolve its product offer across both in-store and online channels.

The Assistant Designer will collaborate across Design, Buying, Merchandising, Technical, and Marketing functions, supporting end-to-end product development from initial concept through to store execution.

Candidates are expected to bring proven experience as a Trainee or Junior Designer, with a strong commercial awareness of the product market and proficiency in design software, including Adobe Creative Suite.
