[JOBS] TEXTILE PRINT DESIGNER : MATALAN

About The Role

As a Textiles Designer on Homeware, you will support the Senior Designer in designing and developing comprehensive ranges in conjunction with the Buyers and wider trading teams, ensuring that the product and ranges reflect the current market and Matalan's customers.

• Undertake Market research to identify what the latest trends, colours and materials are and Matalan's competitors ranges. 

• Provide advice and insight on initial samples, ensuring that the manufactured products match initial design specifications. 

• Liaise with the Buyers on costs/ margins to ensure that the range can realistically be bought with-in the given budget. 

• Undertake factory visits and competitive shopping trips in the UK, USA and Far East with full reports and feedback to the Buying and Design teams. 

• Working with the Design team to help create and present the company trends presentations, the ‘key looks’ information for the buyer and the company colour palettes

• Design Bedding ranges with buyer, based on sales and trend information, including updating core lines  

About You

• Previous experience as a Designer, preferably within the Bedding department or Textile team.

• Experience of designing Print and Patterns for homeware.

• Degree educated, ideally in Fashion, Textile, or Product Design 

• Advance Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills

• Strong technical and creative design skills - including the ability to design prints and graphics

• Strong verbal and communication skills
