[JOBS] TEXTILE DESIGNER : SEKERS FABRICS
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and reliable textile designer to join an established textile group at the high end of the furnishing fabric trade.
Sekers and Wemyss have been supplying fabrics to both the commercial and residential sectors for over 70 years and are now looking to expand the Design & Marketing Department by recruiting a Textile Designer.
Based at the group head office in Dundee, Scotland, the successful candidate will work within the Design & Marketing team and will contribute to the look and aesthetic of both brands.
Main Duties
Design and development of fabric collections from initial concept through to sampling and production
Liaising with suppliers to brief out new developments to target price points
Formulating and contributing towards the studio trends for new season development
Colouring collections in line with market/trend research
Presenting new collection ideas to the Managing Directors
Researching the residential and contract markets, with the ability to identify commercial product opportunities
Attending supplier meetings and trade shows to source new and innovative qualities to bring collections to life
Managing workload in line with the requirements of the critical path
Quality control bulk production to ensure new collections meet our high standards
Arranging the appropriate fabric test certificates
Developing sample books and pattern cards for new product ranges
Organising photoshoots for new fabric collections or developing CGI briefs
Collaborating with the team on exhibition concepts
Other duties - Provide general design studio support and admin when required
Skills & Knowledge
Textile knowledge across woven and printed products
Experience in working with design repeats
Commercial eye for colouring
Ability to identify and look for new design & colour trends
Strong skills working with Adobe suites and Microsoft Office
Excellent presentation skills
Highly organised with a great attention to detail
Knowledge of Fire-Retardant Standards
Excellent administration skills

Qualifications & Experience
Graduate degree in textiles (or relevant discipline)
Preferably 1/2 years minimum working within the textile/ design industry
Interest/ Knowledge of textiles or Interior Design (desirable)
