About The Job

Over 100 years with 3 generations, J.Rosenthal & Son is a family business that has set the standard in readymade curtains, bedding and cushions in the home furnishings market.

As a result, we have grown to become a leading supplier of home textiles to the retail sector in Radcliffe, Manchester.

The Role:

As a designer, you will be responsible for producing commercial designs for printed, woven and embroidered bedding, curtains and cushions for a high street retailer.

Key Tasks & Accountabilities:

  • Analysing the customer and competitors to spot design and colour gaps within the range.

  • Identifying seasonal trends and concepts for internal discussion and kick start design work.

  • Being able to present own ideas and concepts to design team members

  • Confident in presenting ideas to the the customer.

  • Identifying woven qualities and embroidered techniques for design development.

  • Creating exciting artwork to internal briefs for selection.

  • Designing to customer specifications and briefs.

  • Texture mapping product for presentations

  • Preparing designs for colouring and printing, ensuring they are in repeat and colour reduced.

  • Producing layouts and briefs for suppliers for the instruction of sampling.

  • Managing the development o samples from the supplier to customer.

  • Liaising with the customer through the design selection process.

  • Logging and organising of quality samples for development.

  • Archiving and cataloguing completed designs using Daminion software.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Design Degree in textiles (print, weave or embroidery with homeware experience

  • Good drawing skills

  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

  • Be Able to work as a team and use own initiative

  • Experience in soft furnishing textile design.

  • Ability to organise a busy workload and work to deadlines

  • Good communication skills

Preferable:

  • Knowledge of Ned Graphics, AVA or similar design software

  • Knowledge of woven fabrics
