We are currently looking for an Assistant Print designer to join our Homeware team at this exciting time!
Key Responsibilities
In support of development and execution of the Design Product Strategy, for an assigned department:
Research global print trends / departmental trends
Research competitor set and have a good understanding of the homeware market
Collaborate with the Designer/ Buying/Technical team to agree the range and support creating Tech Packs for designs via PLM
Produce high standard of print, pattern original artwork, support on CADs and Tech packs via PLM delivering a high hit rate
Essential
Support on print specific design product strategy content - Create print direction boards/presentations
Support across elements of the design touch points and review process
Support the Designer, working with Buying and Technical teams to ensure critical dates for range line sheets and tech packs are met within the critical path
Excellent Hand Drawing Skills
Excellent understanding of colour
Technical Print Skills Including Industry Standard Repeats, Placements, Borders.
Creative flair & commercial taste level
Good communication/ presentation skills;
Design experience in retail environment 2 years +
Experience of trend interpretation, knowledge of current competition and directional brands
Clear understanding of the M&S customer and strong ability to anticipate their product needs
Good understanding of category area including competitor set.
Experience in direct design sourced product, working with Technology/Design and Buying to create high standards of CAD and Tech packs
High level of proficiency in design related CAD software to include Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and In Design
