[JOBS] PRINT DESIGNER – PAUL SMITH
This role requires a confident and experienced Print Designer to work in close collaboration with the Head of Print, PS Designers, PS Print and Sales teams, to research, design and develop the printed artwork collections for the Women’s PS collection.
Responsibilities:
• To design and develop the printed fabric collections including shirting, lining, dresses, t-shirts, cuffs, outerwear and embroideries.
• Produce innovative all over and placement prints that relate to the seasonal brief and PS aesthetic.
• Develop artwork by hand and source archived material to use for manipulation in order to create printed artwork that is relevant to the Collection.
• Generate research and concepts, developing themes and design ideas, working out scale, colour, repeats and presenting ideas/ designs to the Head Designer.
• Design and develop outstanding market lead designs in line with the seasonal brief, meeting both design and commercial expectations.
• Assist the Print Technical Developer as required with aspects of print technical development.
• Manage the print design process and critical path, ensuring all print deadlines are respected. Essential Experience and Skills Required:
• Educated to a minimum 2.1 degree, or equivalent qualification in Textiles, Textiles for Fashion or Graphics.
• Advanced skills in utilising Illustrator and Photoshop packages.
• Previous credible experience of working in a Print Designer role within the fashion industry.
• Excellent drawing skills are a must, together with outstanding Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator knowledge.
• A solid understanding of seasons, deadlines and working within a busy design studio. About You:
• Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.
• Highly motivated with the ability to plan, organise and prioritise to meet set deadlines.
• Proactive and disciplined with high level research skills.
• Excellent design skills from drawing and painting to photography and manipulating artwork on the computer.
• Interest, knowledge and awareness of Print within the luxury Womenswear market.
• U.K. and international travel may feature as part of this role. The ability to travel as and when required.
