Stead McAlpin is a family run contract print Textile manufacturing business based in Cumbria, that has been printing luxury Textiles since 1835.

We pride ourselves on professionalism and attention to detail. Our customers include individual designers, high end interior companies and couture fashion houses, high street stores, department stores and start-up businesses all over the world.

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Junior Colourist to join our growing digital print department.

In This Role You Will:

·        Report to the Senior Designer, Head of Design and Head of Product Development

·        Use AVA CADCAM software to create colourways and recolour designs

·        Put designs into a technical repeat for fabric printing

·        Use AVA CADCAM for basic colour separation where needed.

·        Liaise with customers to produce and colour match their designs to specific briefs

·        Work closely with customers remotely or in person on the colouration of their designs.

·        Familiarise yourself with the cloth range and be able to advise customers on the best base cloth for their projects.

·        Communicate closely with the Production, Proofing and Sales teams to assist and advise both them and customers during the development process.

·        Work with the archive to catalogue and scan documents when needed.

·        Ensure deadlines are met and a high standards of work is produced

·        Ensure Quality Control Procedures are adhered to.

·        Be flexible and assist the production and sales teams with customers

·        Have the ability to work independently and have good interpersonal communication skills

The Ideal Candidate Will:

·        Have a background in a creative subject (preferably textiles), either to college diploma or degree level.

·        Have a working knowledge of AVA Cad Cam and Adobe Photoshop but full training will be provided on both.

·        Be enthusiastic and have a passion for textiles, especially print.

·        Have a natural eye for colour.

·        Be computer literate, preferably familiar with Apple Mac systems

·        Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills

·        Be able to prioritise work load and work to tight deadlines

·        Be self-motivated with excellent organisational skills
