The Role In A Nutshell

As Print Designer you will be responsible for all print and pattern designs across our home, beach, kids (and dog!) collections.

You will bring a passion for print and a great eye for colour and detail. You’ll have up to date knowledge of colour and print trends and will be able to translate these in the Dock and Bay brand aesthetic.

You’ll be responsible for the whole design process from Print and Trend Moodboards, designing and artworking repeat and placement patterns to receiving and commenting on samples. Must be confident in taking the lead and managing your own workload, time and deadlines.

You will be designing for multiple markets including the UK, US and Australia so an understanding of design styles in these regions is advantageous.

Must have great technical knowledge of different printing techniques and an understanding of product construction.

Key Responsibilities (Now We’re Getting Serious)

  • Research, analyse and track colour + print trends to keep up to date with fashion and textile design trends by continually researching the market to maintain homewear and fashion awareness

  • Put together seasonal moodboards, design direction and colour palettes for Adult, Home, Kids and Dog Trends to be reviewed by the wider team

  • Use range plans to design new prints and bring together the collections as a whole

  • Design prints, patterns, labels for specific departments and categories.

  • Create & develop brand appropriate direction for colour and pattern design to fit the Dock and Bay customer

  • Artwork designs for production

  • Review and comment on Product Samples

What You Need

  • Minimum 3-5 industry experience, fashion background would be preferable

  • Excellent hand drawing and CAD skills in Illustrator and Photoshop

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of overseas printing processes and all production techniques in relation to screen printing, digital printing, dying, embroidery and labels

  • Knowledge and ability to CAD up print repeats and designs as final artwork, edit, colour separate, recolour and match colours from the seasonal palettes

  • Understanding of Pantones and Colour Matching

  • Great time management skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • A can-do attitude and ability to self-motivate

  • Excellent team player with a collaborative approach to working

  • Ability to adapt quickly and react to shifting priorities
