About The Job

Marvic Textiles, designers and wholesalers of luxury furnishing fabrics based in West London, is looking for a graduate Printed Textiles Designer to assist in all design areas including fabric design, merchandising & marketing.

This is an attractive position for someone looking for an introduction to the furnishing fabrics industry and wanting to work in a small company offering great all-round experience.

This full-time role will be based at our head office in West London, with occasional days spent in our Chelsea Harbour showroom working as a showroom assistant.

Main Duties Include:

  • Developing new collections including originating designs and re-colouring current designs

  • Researching design and colour ideas and keeping up to date with trends

  • Liasing with suppliers on product development

  • Attending supplier meetings, trade fairs & design research trips

  • Assisting with launch of new collections, including photography, showroom displays and website updates

  • Presenting new ranges to sales reps, staff and occasionally clients

  • Assisting with Marketing, including contributing ideas, planning marketing calendar & creating email campaigns

  • Responsibility for social media accounts, including creating content and managing posts etc.

  • Creating brochures, presentations and artwork for misc. print projects

  • Showroom duties include assisting trade and retail customers, ordering sampling and dealing with queries, keeping showroom tidy.

Skills Required:

  • BA Hons Degree in Printed Textile Design essential

  • Excellent technical design skills including drawing, painting, putting designs in to repeat, scaling etc.

  • Excellent eye for colour

  • Proficient knowledge of Adobe programs: Photoshop and InDesign

  • Passionate and knowledgeable about fabrics

  • Good communicator, organised and with a keen eye for detail

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Adaptable, ‘can do’ attitude and keen to learn in many areas of the business
