Here at Wilko our Design team are looking for a Surface Pattern & Print Designer to join them based at our Head Office in Worksop.

The Role As our Surface Pattern & Print Designer you'll be responsible for driving the design and development of new home textile products to ensure our customers are getting the items they want for their homes.

You'll work collaboratively with other teams to gain the insights needed, enabling you to understand and develop range content that creates a unique own brand range for the Wilko customer.

Here are just some of the things you’ll be involved in Creating original surface pattern and print designs that can be utilised across a wide range of product categories that will drive trend and volume lines.

Responsible for designing decorative products in the Home category, focusing particularly on textile products.

Close management of project deadlines, ensuring projects are delivered to critical path dates.

Working alongside the customer insight team to build a strong understanding of the Wilko customer you are designing for. Presenting trend research & market analysis to the wider Wilko teams to drive cross function engagement & improve product development.

Creating great working relationships with Wilko team members, working particular closely with Buying, Merchandising, Quality, Packaging and the Supply base to agree and produce a range of products that create differentiation for the Wilko customer. Leading Junior Designers, coaching and developing them, growing their knowledge and skills.

Supporting the SSP Design Manager in delivering seasonal trend research and identifying new Macro and Micro design trends that are Wilko customer focused.

What we need from you

We need someone who has a minimum of 5 years experience in home textile design from a retail background, with proven experience in developing profitable product ranges covering multiple categories for each season.

We need this along with: Relevant Surface Pattern/Print/Textiles degree.

Able to research and translate trend information effectively. Excellent drawing skills for illustration creation prior to embarking on C.A.D software. Proficient at using design software, Photoshop, illustrator and InDesign, knowledge of AVA software is an advantage.

Can create detailed C.A.Ds to create briefs to send to manufacture. Must have detailed understanding of substrates & manufacturing capabilities and understand how to utilise these to get the best product, value engineering where required.

Proven experience in developing profitable product ranges covering multiple categories for each season. Some financial understanding including margins, profit, sales.

 Able to present product ranges and concepts to cross functional stakeholders. Comfortable work in a face paced way and able to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.

Please note this role will include travel throughout the UK and abroad including the Far East when required.
