We’re looking for a Occasionwear Designer to lead and drive the Monsoon Occasionwear department in developing and designing original ranges in line with overall Monsoon Accessorize brand strategy for the season which is in line with the handwriting and business objectives.
What Will You Do As A Occasionwear Designer?
Trend research and Sourcing - Identify and present seasonal trends as appropriate for the Monsoon Accessorize brand including key fashion prints, embroideries. and colours for the season, and each drop.
Contribute to new reference material, including industry knowledge and research for the department to use throughout the season.
Ensure identified trends and key items are completed through to sign off stage.
Create unique, in-house collections which deliver newness and commerciality.
Compile strong reference material, including researching, catwalk and comp shop trend and compiling mood boards and colour palettes.
Producing / creating design specs and embroidery layouts. To create beautiful first samples.
Ownership of the occasion category to deliver new balanced collections for the department.
Passionate about Occasionwear and delivering the best for the business.
International travel may be required
Responsible for critical path planning of design time for occasion category
Where required assist in the planning of the Critical Path for product areas, ensuring effective communication with suppliers and relevant team member
Meet deadlines and the critical path
Motivate and Inspire print department to support development on the Occasion department
What Will You Need To Succeed As An Occasionwear Designer
Established Junior Designer or Designer with creative and technical ability to design occasion end-use collections
Passionate and enthusiastic to drive best for the dept.
Self-motivated with an ability to work under own initiative
Confident and articulate communicator with an ability to build strong working relationships
Ability to deliver to tight timescales and work under pressure.
A good eye for occasion woven product, soft and structured, with a good understanding of embroidery and embellishments.
Fabric sourcing ability and good technical skills to develop beautiful products and first samples.
Confident in presenting collections/concepts and pitching ideas across the team.
Confident and versatile people skills to influence and persuade wider team to vision.
Ability to demonstrate and understanding of ‘brand handwriting’
CAD Skills- Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator
Quick and accurate ability to hand sketch designs, attention to detail.
