[JOBS] JUNIOR PRINT DESIGNER : ME+EM LTD LONDON

We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, wants to work in a fast-paced, agile environment and can prioritise and organise their workload, whilst utilising their design skills in the creation of exciting seasonal print stories.

You must be able to work on a wide spectrum of print artworks including all-over repeats, placement prints, motif designs, jacquard, and embroidery artworks.

A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience is required in a similar fashion related background.

You must have a degree level qualification in printed textiles or similar and have excellent photoshop, illustrator and hand drawing skills.

Job Responsibilities:

Prints, Artwork Creation & Cads

  • Once prints are selected by the Senior Designer and Design Director work within a brief to rework, rescale, refine and recolour within the seasonal calendar drops. Rework original vintage artworks to make them workable for print mills.

  • Generate hybrid prints from bought artworks, research work, or from scratch (time permitting) to create additional prints to complement print stories or fill specific roles within the collection. Create complementary jacquard or embroidery artworks when needed.

  • Create additional artworks across areas such as jersey tees and knitwear. Creating artwork cads for checks, stripes, placements and side stripe colourways when needed.

  • Once the print selection is finalised, edit design sketches in photoshop/illustrator to add printed cads for the shape and styling boards

  • Support the Designer on the creation of the Styling Boards (Physical) prior to the Proto meetings.

  • Continue to update & edit the printed CADS, Shape boards & Styling Boards throughout the development and meeting process.

Print Spec Packs

  • Create a print pack for every style that proceeds to samples. Include all print artwork files, colour breakdowns, proto requests, and s/off requests.

  • Manage the sending out of all print packs to suppliers and liaise with suppliers to ensure proto and s/offs are on time for relevant meetings

  • Send the Print packs to the supplier (with accompanying print references/ fabric swatches if required) in accordance with the critical path. Enter the relevant information into the Critical Path (CP)

  • Ensure all print reference or original loaned archive samples are returned to Me+Em with the proto samples.

Additional Tasks:

  • Action strike-off comments and approvals supported by the senior designer/buyer

  • Liaise with suppliers on print-related queries on an ongoing basis

  • Manage the colour process for the design team - order all Pantone cols needed for the seasonal colour palettes plus help the designer to select additional pantones needed for print nuances

  • liaise with print designers/studios or archives to ensure original artworks are returned and any invoices are submitted

  • Support the Designer in preparing for key meetings (preparing s/offs, additional cads for colour or print scale reference)

  • Support the Senior Designer in the Proto meeting where required, taking all notes & actions from the meeting on any print groups or print related actions where needed

  • Print research, as directed by the Senior Designer /Design Director

  • Build and maintain good working & professional relationships with head office teams.

  • Build and maintain good working & professional relationships with the supply base.

  • Department Filing - colour archive

  • Along with the design assistants ensure the office is kept tidy daily
