About the role
As a Junior Designer you will work as part of a small Design Team to create seasonal research on upcoming print trends for each season. This role, will be responsible for developing artworks into repeat, creating colourways and supporting the administrative process having direct contact with the suppliers. There will also be the opportunity for creating original artworks and working with print studios.
Suitable candidates will have relevant commercial experience working with a retailer or supplier and possess a strong portfolio.
Organising and sending out print packs to suppliers, and making sure they are ready for printing– prints to be in repeat, have colour references and include all essential technical information needed by supplier.
Managing the admin and print library.
Drive research into print and colour ideas and trends to sit with the stories for the season
Presenting prints to buying department
Developing prints from scratch, with a varied and strong print handwriting including a mix of drawing, painting and digital artworks
Recolours, rescales and reworks of bought artworks and archive print
Job requirements
Relevant design degree (preferably 2:1 or higher)
2-3 years’ experience working in a supplier or retail setting
Has an understanding of print techniques, embroidery and different fabric bases both woven and jersey
Excellent skills in the Adobe Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign
Confident communicator and knows how to present and defend own ideas
Highly organised and an independent thinker that is adaptable/flexible
Previous experience of the design process working from concept through to technical development and product launch
