Job Summary

This position will work closely with the buying and product team to assist in creating innovative products and prints across all the homeware ranges at Rockett St George.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with trend and print research for our key stories

  • Supporting the product team to finalise and prepare designs ready for sign-off

  • Creating workable repeats and colourways

  • Print development, including working on designs set by a brief as well as some self-driven, autonomous design work

  • Preparing designs and colourways ready to send out to and at times liaising with, suppliers/factories on design limitations

  • Applying print designs across multiple product categories in homeware, both hardware, soft furnishings and upholstery

  • Department specific admin such as creating detailed design spec packs, updating pattern/colour boards, ensuring all files/artwork are accessible and saved correctly

Person Specification

The Homeware Product/Print Designer is an innovator, who can work at pace to work with a confident understanding of the Product Design process. They’re especially proficient in producing CAD work and have experience in designing across homeware categories. With a good understanding of colour and style, they are trend-aware and obsessed with all things interiors.

Knowledge

  • A good sense of colour and style

  • A clear understanding of the product design process

  • Up-to-date with current industry and design trends

Experience

  • Experience of working in a high output environment and work at pace

  • Experience of re-colouring, creating colourways and interesting repeats

  • A portfolio that shows your unique and diverse handwriting across product, as well as Illustrator skill

  • Experience designing across many homeware categories, furniture, lighting, upholstery, soft furnishings, packaging or within the industry is a bonus

Skills

  • Resilient, pro-active and able to work creatively autonomously when needed

  • Excellent CAD skills on Photoshop and in Illustrator

  • Proficient in InDesign

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Ability to work well under pressure and multi-task
