[JOBS] HEAD OF DESIGN : BIRDIE FORTESCUE LTD

Birdie Fortescue is looking for a textile designer who is a proactive, organised, team player with excellent communication skills to join our team as Head of Design.

Successful candidate must have a degree in Textile Design, previous work experience in Textile Design and be proficient in Adobe Suite. 

At Birdie Fortescue the customer is at the heart of our product, successful candidate must have great commercial and brand awareness to design and develop seasonal ranges.

The Role:

  • Heading our small team consisting of; product designer and buying and production assistant and taking product from concept to completion.

  • Helping to set seasonal briefs and provide creative overview of whole seasonal collection inclusive of; lighting, furniture, tableware, rugs etc.

  • Adhering to and assisting with management of the critical path

  • Trend forecasting using external trend forecasting resources

  • Advising on textile techniques and new innovative ways to develop our seasonal collections

  • Print design and development for; Block, Digital and Screen Print

  • Additional focus on; trims and embroideries

  • Developing vintage prints and artworks to reflect the brands aesthetic

  • Producing artwork and accurate specs for key suppliers

  • Producing seasonal range reviews and circulating to the wider team

  • Working alongside the creative and marketing teams to assist on seasonal photoshoots

Birdie Fortescue’s eponymous interiors haven is the result of a journey that started in London in the late 1980s.

Drawing on her experience as an interior designer and antiques dealer, Birdie Fortescue offers a personally curated and designed collection of unique homeware, antiques and contemporary art.

Working with craftsmen and specialist artisans who she has met on her travels in Europe, Africa and India, her designs are interpreted into collections of bed and table linens, tableware, lighting, rugs and decorative accessories.
