The Décor sector offers a whole host of new opportunities for print service providers and creative entrepreneurs. As a sector the market will exceed $13 billion dollars by 2025 growing at a CAGR of 25%. As a disruptive technology digital printing is driving change within the sector as it expands to embrace the consumers – trade or retail – there is a requirement for customisation and personalisation.
The challenges brought by the global health pandemic have brought Décor into focus once again as we all look to repurpose the spaces we occupy irrespective of location: Domestic, commercial, residential or leisure.
Online sales supported by digital printing technologies offer the consumer the opportunity to personalise their homes with custom printed canvases, gifts, textiles and wallpaper murals, all of which can now be purchased without complication. Creativity is at the heart of the sector where taste and style are subjective – your home is your personal space - and as such décor sets the frame for “Hygge” – A feeling of contentment or wellbeing.
Inspiration for the audience was provided by a selection of industry experts including Jennifer Castoldi of Trendease international, Alex Trochut – Artist and Graphic Designer, Duaij Al Duaij of Adecohome, Agnes Lafarge of Antalis and Maries Amouroux of Ultima Displays. An expert panel collated to inspire, share their knowledge and to explore the benefits of digital décor technology.
Jennifer Castoldi presented an inspiring glimpse into the future, offering a window into the many opportunities that abound for the printed surface. From the floor to the ceiling almost every surface can now be digitally printed – print adds value to the final product and as such offers the designer or printer an opportunity to enhance the product aesthetic for increased sales and revenue.
Artist Alex Trochut has explored the use of digital to bring new applications to market. His use of printed Aluminium uses the function of digital technology to build new creative applications that visually engage. Alex creates for many of the leading brands across the globe and his work is not restrained by print – the opposite – he pushes boundaries to discover new applications using technology for creatives purpose.
Duaij Al Duaij of Adecohome designs and retails Home Furnishings – encompassing wallpaper to decorative cushions and window blinds and much more Adecohome products are all manufactured using HP technologies. His brand is vibrant, his energy intoxicating, as is his passion for the printed products he produces. Duaij and his team are conquering the world from their HQ in Kuwait – all of which has been made possible using digital print technologies and a vast supply of passion.
Agnes Lafarge, Group Marketing Manager Antalis. High quality, technical and eco-responsible media is a critical ingredient for modern Interior Décor, Antalis offer a wide range of interior print bases. Their extensive portfolio is designed to inspire and sourced to ensure that the products created meet the exacting specifications of the Décor Industry. As Agnes explained - Texture and light and ambiance are an intrinsic element to Interior design and the Koala range from Antalis ensures that the final printed product offers luxury and style alongside durability to meet the demands of the Interior sector as it expands into the digital marketplace.
Marie Amouroux, Product Director of Ultima Displays - who have made the leap from the Signage and Display sector to the Interior Décor marketplace now offer printed Textiles using the HP Stitch dye sublimation series. Ultima offer custom printed wallpapers, canvasses, and acoustic panels within their textile range. Moving forward as they expand into commercial Interiors, their future development will demand the sourcing of new technical substrates that meet the contract markets demand for specification and regulation. Marie explained that this was still a challenge as sustainable, eco-friendly technical textiles for digital textile printing are not yet widely available. It’s an exciting chapter for the Ultima team as they expand to meet the many opportunities that the Décor sector offers.
The final chapter of the HP experience was a tour of HP’s impressive demo centre in Barcelona. With technical demo staff on hand to offer expert advice and share their in-depth knowledge and providing keynote explanations of the technical and production benefits for all aspects of the HP technology suite.
