A technology collaboration between SPGPrints and Xaar was showcased to a select group of visitors at ITMA 2019.

The invitation-only event on the SPGPrints stand (H3-B203) focussed on a technical demonstration of the latest innovations in single pass dye-sublimation printing, giving guests a sneak preview of the new Xaar 5601 printhead together with the waterborne sublimation inks that SPGPrints created specifically for this printhead.

The dye-sublimation transfer printing process on polyester and other synthetic fabrics enables textile printing companies to print more efficiently with less ink while producing higher levels of colour density for maximum impact.

In addition, the Xaar 5601 sets new standards in digital textile printing thanks to Xaar’s unique technologies – AcuDrp Technology and TF Technology ink recirculation – which ensure outstanding colour uniformity and repeatability as well as exceptional print quality.

Equally the Xaar 1201 featured on The Arete Combo from d.gen is capable of printing on both transfer paper and directly on to fabric. Equipped with Xaar’s industry leading 1201 printheads, the Arete Combo delivers high speed and high-resolution printing and is available in six colour and four colour print options.

Xaar 1201’s Thin Film Piezo Silicon MEMS technology is capable of jetting a range of relevant fluids (EcoSolvent, UV-curable and Aqueous) for wide-format graphics (WFG), direct-to-garment (DTG) and textile applications.

With its 1280 nozzles and capability to produce print with an apparent resolution of over 1440 dpi, the Xaar 1201 delivers high print speed and high drop placement accuracy.

“We used the Xaar 1201 as it was the best printhead in its class,” said Bruno Ruggiero, Sales Director at d.gen. “With 1280 nozzles per colour the Arete Combo can now print at 1200 dpi high resolution with only 2 passes and at a speed of 80m2 per hour, offering significant productivity advantages to customers.”

d.gen is a global leader of digital textile printer manufacturers based in Korea. Established in 1978, d.gen started a new business in 2002 focussing on investing in digital textile printing solutions based on the world’s best technologies for outdoor signage, graphic arts and textile printing.

Jason Remnant, Head of Product Management, says: “As the leading textile and garment technology show ITMA 2019 was the ideal forum in which to introduce the Xaar 5601 and our range of printheads for the textiles sector.

We are extremely excited to be working with a leading OEM in the textiles market who will soon be making their announcement.

I look forward to visitors to the show being able to see the versatility of Xaar’s printheads for textile printing and learn how they can get ahead and achieve more with Xaar’s technology”.
