The Society Of Dyers And Colourists Announce The Winner Of The 2019 International Design Competition Sponsored By Archroma

02 Dec 2019 china  : Talented young designers from around the world travelled to Xiamen Academy of Arts and Design in the the picturesque coastal city of Xiamen, China for the grand final of the 2019 Society of Dyers and Colourists International Design Competition sponsored by Archroma.

The International Design Competition is SDC’s annual flagship competition, engaging with hundreds of students, universities and designers globally.

The competition helps the entrants develop their understanding of colour and the challenges around sustainability in the textile supply chain.

The four day event included  a seminar and international conference ‘Colouring the Future’, a cultural heritage visit, industry visits and the judging for the grand final of the competition.

The theme for 2019 was  ‘colour and nature’.

An international panel of respected fashion and textile creatives awarded first place to Thailand’s finalist, Pornpimon Wichaiwong, from Chiang Rai Rajabhat University for her design ‘Save Amazon’; well deserved runners up were Chloe Ballard, from the University of Ulster representing Ireland and Sarah Gotheridge from Nottingham College representing the UK.

The SDC offered Congratulations to Pornpimon and a big well done to all talented finalists. 

The SDC also thanked competition sponsors Archroma, and all the students and universities worldwide who took part in the 2019 competition– their creative, colourful designs were inspirational.
