Portsmouth, UK – June 19, 2024Mountain Print is excited to announce a significant milestone in its operational capabilities with the acquisition of a Mimaki UJV55-320 UV LED roll-to-roll printer.

This strategic investment marks a pivotal step in the company's mission to reduce outsourcing and enhance the quality and efficiency of its textile production processes.

The 3.2m wide Mimaki printer will significantly cut down on the outsourcing of soft signage and mesh work, enabling Mountain Print to maintain stringent quality control and reduce lead times for its high-end clients.

Additionally, the purchase of a silicon-edged conveyor sewing machine allows all finishing processes to be completed in-house, further streamlining operations.

“This investment will allow us to lower our lead times and ensure the quality for our high-end clients is where it needs to be. It offers a greater ease of working and allows us to confidently say yes to a job, without having to go and get costs for anything that may change during production,” said Darrell Mountain, Director of Mountain Print.

Unveiling at CMYUK Open Day

Darrell Mountain first encountered the Mimaki UJV55-320 during a CMYUK open day event, where the printer's speed, quality, and productivity made a lasting impression.

“I was blown away by the printer's speed, quality and productivity. Its ability to print 2 x 1.6m rolls at the same time is a brilliant feature that will be incredibly useful. Production wise it’s probably trebled our capacity,” he remarked.

The Mimaki UJV55-320 is known for its versatility, accommodating a wide range of indoor and outdoor applications, including banners, retail displays, exhibition and event graphics, and window graphics. With a resolution of up to 1200 dpi, it is available in both 4-color CMYK and 7-color CMYKLcLmW configurations. Its high-density print mode for front/backlit applications, along with an inline LED lightbox for backlit print inspection, ensures top-notch output quality.

Seamless Integration and Outstanding Support

Mountain Print has seamlessly integrated the Mimaki printer into its workflow, thanks to the exceptional training and support provided by CMYUK.

“We’d never used Mimaki’s before in-house and never used the Rasterlink RIP, but the training from CMYUK was fantastic. Martin Cole [CMYUK engineer] was super helpful. He went over and above for us. I can’t give him enough credit,” Darrell stated.

Commitment to Sustainability

Mountain Print has also committed to sustainability by purchasing textiles exclusively from CMYUK, including products from the PVC-free Kavalan and UFABRIK ranges. These eco-friendly materials align perfectly with the company’s dedication to ethical practices.

“The UFABRIK Black Back UV Textile is really high quality. We were printing a graphic on it for a gaming company and the result was absolutely immaculate. It’s also quite a thick material with a good amount of give, and is excellent for stretching around canvas wall flats, it hides all the seams. It’s just really good,” Darrell added.

Future Prospects

The new Mimaki printer has not only turbocharged Mountain Print's productivity but also enabled the company to expand its service offerings, including in-house production of lightboxes.

“We started out as a logistics and installation company but began to offer printing in 2020. We’ve grown very quickly, and the investment in the new Mimaki 3.2m printer has put us in a really good place for our next phase,” Darrell concluded.
