Therapeutic Patterns And Mythology Become Design Inspiration – As The New Talent Area Curated By Trendease At Heimtextil Grows

Frankfurt am Main, 23 September 2026 – Even more young design talent and creative ideas: at the upcoming Heimtextil, the New Talent Area returns for its second edition with a stronger presence.

From 12 to 15 January 2027, the curated area will welcome more than 30 participants, many of whom are presenting on the international stage for the first time.

In Frankfurt, they will showcase exciting textile designs, surprising materials and market-ready products.

The New Talent Area, curated by Jennifer Castoldi of Trendease International, was newly established at Heimtextil 2026 and met with an immediate and highly positive response.

The second edition reflects the success of its debut through a growing number of participants.

At the same time, institutions and sponsors are stepping up their involvement, actively supporting newcomers as they enter the market.

Visitors to the special area in Hall 4.2 can therefore look forward to numerous new faces and fresh ideas. The projects on display span a wide range of development stages, from experimental material and design approaches to finished products ready for retail or practical application.

Visitors will also benefit from the broad range of topics addressed by the New Talents' designs, including bio-based solutions, circularity, sustainability, neurodiversity, heritage and craftsmanship.

In 2027, the more than 30 participants registered so far come from Canada, China, Denmark, England, Germany, Norway, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland and Wales.

While most of the newcomers will be presenting in Frankfurt for the first time, two participants are returning: Elis Blackwood, with her studio e.L.s designs for contemporary textile art and surface design, and artist, designer and hand embroiderer Severina Seidl, both returning in 2027 under the New Talents Plus label.

Their return underlines the relevance of the format at Heimtextil, which offers opportunities extending beyond an initial trade fair appearance, including expanding contacts, further establishing a market position, and building long-term industry networks.

New to the line-up is Hallie Graham, with her "Tales of Lost Wonder", an exceptional collection of hand-printed textile wallpapers drawing on motifs from Scottish folklore and mythology.

Using techniques such as devoré, discharge dyeing and reactive dyeing, she translates the authenticity of her handcrafted work into market-ready products with the help of digital design applications.

Cascavel, an emerging creative agency, pursues three complementary approaches: developing patterns with therapeutic properties alongside research partners, restoring and digitising a collection of 60,000 rare books to inform narrative-driven designs, and creating contemporary, handcrafted collections based on trend research.

FibreLab, a London-based start-up, presents new approaches to textile recycling, working with companies across the United Kingdom to transform textile waste into materials with strong market potential.

At Heimtextil 2027, FibreLab will spotlight an in-house paper material made from 100 per cent recycled textile waste, designed for applications such as marketing and packaging.
