Epson Collaborates with Illustrator Karin Ohlsson to Showcase Sustainable Digital Textile Printing
December 2025– Epson UK & Ireland has announced a creative collaboration with renowned illustrator Karin Ohlsson, also known as Bahkadisch.
This partnership explores the intersection of creativity and advanced technology, demonstrating how unique illustrations can be vividly brought to life on textiles using Epson’s state-of-the-art printing solutions.
The project resulted in a series of hand-sewn, stylish bags that highlight the potential of digital textile printing.
The collaboration centers on utilizing Epson's Monna Lisa digital textile printer to transfer Ohlsson's distinctive designs directly onto fabric.
This technology is not only pivotal for high-quality reproduction of intricate artwork but also represents a significant step forward in sustainable manufacturing.
The Monna Lisa series is designed to reduce the environmental impact of textile production, capable of saving up to 97% of water in the dyeing process compared to conventional methods.
This alignment with sustainable practices underscores Epson's commitment to eco-friendly innovation within the fashion and textile industries.
In addition to direct-to-fabric printing, the project also employed sublimation printing techniques.
For this portion of the collection, motifs were transferred onto the material using a heat press, a process Ohlsson executed herself in her studio.
This hands-on approach allowed for a personalized touch, bridging the gap between industrial technology and artisanal craftsmanship.
The resulting collection of small bags is described as functional, stylish, and imbued with the artist's unique personality.
This initiative highlights the capabilities of Epson's digital printing technology to support artists and designers in realizing their creative visions while adhering to sustainable production methods.
By moving away from traditional, resource-intensive dyeing processes, the industry can significantly reduce its environmental footprint without compromising on quality or artistic expression.
