Innovation in Action ─ Ricoh Europe Leverages Drytac Solutions to Showcase High-Volume Print Capabilities at Print Evolution Live
TELFORD, UK – December 2025 – Ricoh Europe Graphic Communications has demonstrated the synergy between advanced hardware and premium substrates by transforming its high-volume printing fleet into bespoke showpieces.
Utilizing Drytac’s specialist adhesive solutions, the manufacturer successfully wrapped its flagship machinery for the Print Evolution Live event, underscoring the potential for creative industrial applications and the importance of material selection in challenging environments.
Located at the European Customer Experience Centre in Telford, Ricoh frequently hosts partners to demonstrate print quality.
To elevate the visitor experience during the recent Print Evolution Live showcase, the team decided to utilize the exterior of the hardware itself as a canvas.
The project involved wrapping the RICOH Pro Z75 and the RICOH Pro VC80000. These machines, known by their internal avatars 'Dragon' and 'Harpy Eagle' respectively, required a material solution capable of adhering to challenging, textured surfaces while maintaining high visual fidelity.
To meet these rigorous demands, Ricoh selected Drytac Polar Grip, a polymeric self-adhesive PVC film designed for exceptional durability up to seven years indoors.
The film’s unique high-bond grey adhesive is engineered to stick to difficult substrates, including machinery with textured paint finishes which typically repel standard vinyls.
For protection and finish, the graphics were paired with Interlam Emerytex Pro.
This pressure-sensitive overlaminate not only provides a scuff-resistant, matte pebble texture but also ensures the graphics can withstand the environment of a busy industrial centre, boasting multiple fire and slip certifications.
Shane Barrett, Pre-Sales Manager, Inkjet Solutions at Ricoh Europe Graphic Communications, highlighted the technical necessity of the choice. Barrett noted, “We selected Polar Grip because the paint job on both the Ricoh Pro Z75 and Ricoh Pro VC80000 have a textured finish, so wanted to be sure of a good adhesion of the vinyl.”
The graphics were printed in-house on a RICOH Pro L5100e latex large format printer. Barrett commented on the efficiency of the workflow, stating, “The print quality on Polar Grip was perfect using a generic PVC profile on our Pro L5100e and fed through the printer without any issues with perfect tiling and panel alignment for the installers.” The resulting installation has received acclaim from both internal teams and visiting clients, proving that the right combination of print technology and material science can deliver striking industrial aesthetics.
