Winterquilts Transforms Garment Costing with GSDCost & GSDQuest from Coats Digital

Colombo, Sri Lanka – September 2026 – Winterquilts (Pvt) Ltd., one of Sri Lanka's leading garment manufacturers and exporters, has invested in Coats Digital's award-winning GSDCost solution together with its newly launched AI-powered GSDQuest platform.

The move is designed to standardise garment costing, improve costing accuracy and accelerate Bill of Labour generation across the company's manufacturing operations.

The investment marks a significant step forward for the apparel industry, as manufacturers increasingly turn to intelligent automation to strengthen accuracy, speed and operational visibility in the face of mounting global pressures on cost and efficiency.

As part of the implementation, Winterquilts will deploy GSDCost across six product libraries: jersey knit and athleisure, woven shirts and blouses, woven bottoms, ladies' fashion, babywear and childrenswear.

The company has also invested in Coats Digital's Fair Wage Tool, Thread Demand, Material Size Factor and Support Desk modules, further reinforcing its commitment to building a more sustainable and transparent digital manufacturing operation.

Winterquilts has spent more than three decades supplying high-quality apparel to some of the world's most recognised fashion retailers, including Marks & Spencer.

Operating four manufacturing facilities and employing more than 3,000 people, the company manufactures approximately 700,000 garments each month across a diverse portfolio of apparel.

As part of a broader plan to expand its manufacturing operations, Winterquilts identified the need for a more consistent and structured approach to garment costing.

The business sought a standardised method for SMV creation, with greater visibility of individual garment operations and the ability to benchmark existing cost outputs against scientifically established standards.

"Our existing processes required significant manual effort and could create challenges with turnaround times, consistency and visibility, making it harder for teams to respond quickly and focus on strategic priorities," said Rajen Amalean, Managing Director of Winterquilts (Pvt) Ltd. "We wanted to establish a more scientific approach that would improve costing accuracy, reduce operational firefighting and provide greater confidence in the decisions we make throughout the product development and production process."

The adoption of GSDQuest underscores Winterquilts' commitment to embracing emerging technologies capable of reshaping traditional manufacturing processes.

As one of Coats Digital's latest AI innovations, GSDQuest ushers in a new era of intelligent costing for the fashion industry, combining human expertise with advanced automation to deliver faster, more consistent and more transparent decision-making.

This partnership reflects a wider industry shift towards data-driven manufacturing, where accuracy and accountability go hand in hand with sustainability and ethical production practices.

By adopting these tools, Winterquilts is positioning itself at the forefront of a more responsible, technology-enabled future for garment manufacturing.
