ReHubs to Launch Strategic Action Plan for Europe's Textile Waste Crisis

Brussels, Belgium – July 2025 – ReHubs, a leading advocate for sustainable textile practices, has announced plans to unveil a comprehensive strategic circularity roadmap and action plan in September 2025.

This initiative, referred to as "ReHubs 2.0," aims to address Europe's escalating textile waste crisis, which has been further intensified by the EU's mandatory textile collection law effective January 2025.

The European textile and apparel industry is now faced with surging volumes of discarded textiles, financial strain on sorting operations, and a substantial gap in recycling capacity.

Without immediate, industry-wide action, unused textiles will continue to accumulate or face incineration, intensifying environmental and economic challenges.

Robert van de Kerkhof, CEO of ReHubs, stated, “The textile and apparel industry stands at a critical crossroads. Together, we can build a resilient, circular textile ecosystem."

ReHubs 2.0 is built on the collective efforts of over 30 value chain partners, including collectors, sorters, recyclers, brands, and investors.

This initiative goes beyond being a call to action; it marks a pivotal shift toward industrialising textile-to-textile recycling infrastructure.

The roadmap outlines detailed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), investment pathways, and scaling priorities, creating a concrete framework for addressing the waste crisis at a system-wide level.

“ReHubs 2.0 is designed to accelerate momentum and drive scalable impact. This is a definitive infrastructure moment for our industry,” Kerkhof added.

ReHubs calls for the active alignment and participation of all stakeholders, including brands, policymakers, investors, and innovators, to ensure the roadmap's success and to secure a sustainable future for textiles in Europe.

September 2025 has been identified as a potential turning point for the sector, offering an opportunity to catalyse meaningful change rather than risk inaction.
