Balat Mensucat Expands Digital Carpet Printing Capacity with Third Zimmer Austria Colaris Line

GAZIANTEP, Türkiye - 6 May 2026 – Gaziantep-based textile and carpet manufacturer Balat Mensucat has reinforced its production capabilities by acquiring a third Colaris digital printing line from Zimmer Austria.

This strategic installation at the company’s advanced manufacturing facility underscores a commitment to sustainable, flexible, and high-quality carpet production, addressing the urgent global demand for design-driven textile solutions.

As the global textile sector faces mounting pressure to reduce lead times and enhance design flexibility responsibly, forward-thinking manufacturers are rapidly transitioning to digital technologies.

Zimmer Austria’s Colaris systems provide high-resolution printing and efficient colour management, empowering Balat Mensucat to compete in international markets whilst adhering to ethical, low-waste production standards.

Andreas Rass, CEO of Zimmer Austria, emphasised the enduring significance of the region. “The Turkish market has always been a strong and highly promising market for us, particularly in the field of digital textile printing. Despite the fluctuations in the global economy, investments such as this clearly demonstrate that the textile and carpet industry in Türkiye is deeply rooted and cannot be overlooked. We will continue to strengthen our presence in Türkiye and remain fully committed to supporting our customers in this market.”

Operating from a 75,000 square metre facility, Balat Mensucat has evolved from its traditional weaving origins in 1961 into an industrial powerhouse.

Today, the company exports its products to more than 35 countries across five continents, continuously prioritising technological upgrades over mere capacity expansion to ensure sustainable growth and innovation in machine-made carpet manufacturing.

Josef Osl, Marketing Director at Zimmer Austria, also highlighted the strategic importance of the collaboration. “With more than 150 years of experience in textile printing technologies, Zimmer Austria is recognized as a global leader in this field. We are very pleased to continue expanding our presence in Türkiye, which remains one of the most important textile and carpet markets worldwide. Türkiye’s strategic location and its role as a key supplier to European markets make it an essential partner in the global textile industry. Turkish manufacturers consistently invest in reliable and advanced technologies to maintain high product quality. We look forward to meeting our partners, industry professionals, and investors at ITM 2026 in Istanbul — Hall 4, Booth 404C.”
