The NOVA X Exhibition—Celebrating Creative Design— Opens At The Central Saint Martins Gallery Lethaby Gallery In London
Celebrating a decade of award-winning creative practice, NOVA X shares the stories of past winners of the MullenLowe NOVA Awards for Fresh Creative Talent.
This exhibition invites you – online and in person at the Lethaby Gallery – to examine the many trajectories that artists and designers can take after graduation.
It tells the stories of transformation, exploration, interrogation, production and tenacity that lie at the heart of professional creative practice.
NOVA X presents finished works at the centre of an expansive map of fragments. Explore these moments of process and consider the impact of tools, objects or insights.
The exhibition offers a constellation of connections, interests and opportunities which, we hope, can be useful within your own ideas and work.
This show is about is about the journey, the journey that the NOVA Award winners have been on.
This show isn’t about blobs on plinths, it does something different.
Work doesn’t appear out of nothing, they arrive from a whole set of processes and maverick inspirations.
“What NOVA X does is to collect all that from around the edges. The intelligence of the show is to make those connections which otherwise you may not have been able to make.” — Jeremy Till, Head of Central Saint Martins
About The Lethaby Gallery
The Lethaby Gallery is dedicated to the creative talents of students, staff and alumni of Central Saint Martins.
From fashion and art to design and performance, it publicly celebrates the College’s past and present. With its doors opening onto Granary Square at King’s Cross, the Lethaby Gallery delivers an ever-changing insight into one of the world’s best arts and design colleges.
Founded in 1896, the gallery was named after the founding head of the Central School of Art and Design – later Central Saint Martins – William Richard Lethaby.
His teaching bridged the gap between the academic and the practical, the thought and the thing, a practice that continues at the College today.
The Lethaby Gallery is situated immediately at the front of the Granary Building, 1 Granary Square, London, N1C 4AA.
Exhibitions will have limited capacity due to Covid-19 regulations, please wear face masks inside the gallery space and follow all other social distancing and government guidance.
About MullenLowe Group
MullenLowe Group is extremely proud to be celebrating 10 years of our award-winning partnership with Central Saint Martins.
In addition to sponsoring the annual degree shows, this year will see the presentation of the MullenLowe NOVA Awards for Fresh Creative Talent.
Over the last decade, the MullenLowe NOVA Awards have focused the attention of the creative community onto some of the most outstanding emerging talent.
Central Saint Martins’ students have challenged us to view things through a different lens and taught us how to use creativity in response to the world around us.
It’s been a privilege to give graduating artists, designers and innovators a platform for recognition, and to shine a light on the artistry, ingenuity and excellence of these brilliant minds as they extend their thinking beyond the educational environment.
As a global communications network with creativity and challenger thinking at our core, the Central Saint Martins degree shows are an exciting opportunity to stay in touch with creativity in its purest form.
From 1,300 graduating students, just six MullenLowe NOVA Awards are presented to students whose work represents truly creative thinking and execution.
