This new technology is expected to create clothing and other types of tissue that limit the spread of coronavirus.

"For the first time in France, tests on the SARS-CoV2 strain were carried out and proved the performance of a treated textile. With a high-performance asset and formalized textile impregnation systems, we have proven that it is possible to create textiles capable of destroying the virus," explains Nathalie Hagege, Founder and President of Proneem, in a press release.

The Marseille-based biotechnology company Proneem has developed, with the support of France Chemistry and Novachim, the only French textile treatment capable of neutralizing the infectiousness of SARS-CoV2.

Tested by the VibioSphen laboratory, this technology, called VIRAL STOP, combines the antiviral properties of zinc pyrithione, zinc oxide and other active ingredients.

It prevents the replication of many viruses such as coronaviruses and at the same time damages their viral envelope. Its virucid action reduces the viral population by more than 99.99%, increases the level of protection of textiles and limits the transmission of the virus.

The high-functional antiviral treatment will be used to make gloves, masks and clothing that can neutralize the virus, allowing them to be used longer, without the risk of infecting those who wear them.

This technology is also expected to be available in textile spray with antiviral properties for the general public and the hotel sector, as well as in antiviral textile cleaners used for industrial laundry and laundry facilities.

"Today, in a period of de-confinement, with a resumption of activity in different sectors, I am thinking of all industries such as tourism or the event trades which must organize differently and relaunch their activities with prevention and safety.

And I also think of all the moms who don't put their children in school for fear that they will catch or pass on Covid-19.

With this innovation, I want above all to solve a new problem that is immobilizing the global economy" adds Nathalie Hagege.
