The Graduate Fashion Foundation Launches The 2022 Fashion Innovation Award

The Innovation Award has been created to more fully embrace the excellent innovative work found on members courses, but who may currently not meet the minimum stated entry criteria of the catwalk awards e.g. may only produce one – three outfits, or products, or produce a documented niche outcome, that reflects their curriculum design.

The winning work must provide a refreshing and innovative direction to the following pathways:

  • Fashion Product

  • Fashion Commentary / Research

  • Fashion Promotion

  • Fashion Image

It should illustrate ground-breaking thinking that the UK is renowned for and may also attract national/international niche media interest.

The work will be judged on the following.

Criteria

  • Visionary thinking, passion and courage

  • Authentic, resourceful, creative enquiry

  • Pioneering influencers of the future

  • Innovator, an individual who is leading the way

  • An inspiring voice

  • An initial digital submission of no more than 15 pages for the nomination shortlisting. The full physical body of work will be displayed for the final judging session.

  • The nomination can be a maximum of 10mb illustrating a mood board, research, development, the final project and supporting statement

Process

PART 1

Monday 23rd May 2022 18:00 - Deadline for submission, academic staff are to nominate 2 final year students and the nominations must be made by academic staff on the provided link.

Selection - Industry experts will shortlist 12 students from entries submitted.

Thursday 7th June 2022 - The names of the shortlisted students will be announced

PART 2

Judging - Thursday 23rd June 2022 - Awards Judging in central London.

Awards Judging in central London onsite at GFW. Shortlisted students must bring their full entry (portfolio) for the final judging. This can be a physical portfolio plus digital elements if required. The judging will be an opportunity to talk through the students work, ideas and answer questions from the judges.

All finalists must attend the full judging day during GFW and ensure they attend all talks, meetings and judging sessions as well as the end of day Awards Presentation and celebratory networking event.

Winners will receive a cash prize and promotion across the GFF networks.
