The E-Commerce Boom Moves Onward And Upward As Amazon Announces The Fashion Local Label Hub And 10,000 New Jobs In The UK
LONDON – May 2021 – Amazon Fashion has launched the Local Label Hub digital store on its online platform in the UK with a curated selection of local brands.
The online retailer aims to support small and medium-sized fashion businesses, independent designers and next-generation fashion talent with the new online store. It features apparel and accessories for men and women.
“Celebrate local creativity and discover our handpicked selection of independent British designers and small businesses from Temperley London and Kate Maconie to Rachel Jackson, Oliver Sweeney and more,” the retailer said on its Local Label Hub online store.
Brands on the new store include Les Girls Les Boys, Damaged Society, Act Two, Soho Scarves, The Platinum Tailor, The Savile Row Company, London Brogues to name a few.
Amazon also announced that it will create more than 10,000 new permanent jobs in 2021, taking its total UK workforce to more than 55,000 people by the end of year.
Amazon also said that it will invest £10 million over three years to train to up to 5,000 employees in new skills and support the Government’s investment programme.
This training will be offered through Amazon’s Career Choice programme, where the company pays course fees for its employees who have expressed an interest in pursuing a career outside of the company – something that will boost the skills and employability of British workers.
Business Secretary, Kwasi Kwarteng, said: “Amazon’s announcement today is fantastic news and a huge vote of confidence in the British economy, helping us deliver on our commitment to level up across the UK with a whopping 10,000 new permanent jobs. As we build back better from the pandemic, this is a prime investment in our retail sector.
