Sustainability From Pixel To Output With Durst UK—As They Sponsor The ‘Green Award’ At The UK Graphic Awards
By Peter Bray, Managing Director, Durst UK & Ireland
Durst has always pursued an ecological und sustainable approach, which is also firmly entrenched in our corporate philosophy.
Every technical solution is evaluated regarding its greatest possible harmlessness for people and the environment, which is why, for example, solvent and eco-solvent concepts have never been pursued within our graphics and textile businesses.
This goes hand in hand with our concept of sustainable print solutions where it is our clear target to offer the most sustainable digital print technologies to our customers.
This starts with considering the ink technologies but also considers minimum substrate waste when feeding the machine and minimum waste generation, energy and water consumption in the machine manufacturing itself.
As a major manufacturer of digital printing technologies, we understand how Durst’s approach to sustainability has a significant impact on the environmental footprint of the printing industry.
From every technical solution we create is evaluated regarding its greatest possible impact on people and the environment.
That is why, for example, solvent and eco-solvent concepts have never been pursued within our graphics businesses.
Our sustainable approach is all part of our pixel to output strategy for end-to-end digitalization involving all producers and suppliers and our concept for the ‘smart factory’.
With our sustainable print solutions, our target is to offer the most sustainable digital print technologies to our customers.
This starts with considering not only the ink technologies but also considers minimum substrate waste when loading the machine, and even minimum waste generation, energy and water consumption while manufacturing the machine itself.
One of our major developments has been water-based inks marketed under the term “Water Technology” for customers in the packaging industry (for example, single-pass corrugated) and textile industry (Alpha Series).
Because of the choice of raw materials and the applied technology itself, Durst is Greenguard Gold certified and has accreditations in ISO 9001, environment 14001 and occupational health & safety OHSAS 18001.
All these factors are among the many reasons why Durst UK & Ireland is sponsoring the Green Award at the inaugural UK Graphic Awards in Leeds on the 14th September.
On behalf of Durst UK & Ireland, who are co-sponsors of the event, I look forward to seeing you there!
