Acceleration of global markets fuels momentum heading into the holiday season

Spoonflower, the world’s largest custom fabric, wallpaper and home decor digital marketplace, today reported third-quarter results and maintained triple digit YoY growth.

At 134% YoY sales in Q3, Spoonflower is outpacing eCommerce growth rates and sustaining second quarter sales trends.

Additionally, previous cross border commerce and brand awareness investments resulted in the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia realizing the highest sales months in company history with the influx of demand largely coming from new customers in these regions.

“The investments made in expanding our on-demand production facilities, bringing on additional digital printing equipment and hiring over 100 new team members globally has positioned Spoonflower to maintain our accelerated growth rates in what traditionally are the slowest retail months,” said Michael Jones, Chief Executive Officer, Spoonflower. “Spoonflower empowers the creative economy of artists, makers and consumers seeking personal expression, and our success is a testament to the strong relationships we’ve built within these communities over the past 12 years.”

The company continued hiring in their Durham, NC, USA and Berlin, Germany headquarters, adding over 70 new employees across operations, customer service and engineering during the months of July-September

Spoonflower also unveiled two strategic partnerships during the quarter:

  • Vote.org selected Spoonflower for its new B2B mask product targeted towards businesses, organizations and associations seeking to offer custom masks to their customers and employees, or make them available for sale on ecommerce sites

  • The Honest Company chose to make its designs available in a branded Spoonflower shop, offering customers access to the iconic prints on wallpaper, growth charts and wall art

Weekly design challenges have contributed tens of thousands of new designs to the marketplace and enabled Spoonflower to stay relevant to current trends and consumer design interests. In September, Spoonflower celebrated an important milestone with its 500th design challenge.

Giving back to the community is inherent to Spoonflower’s brand values. Through the Buy A Mask, Give A Mask program, Spoonflower has donated over 33,000 masks to those in need.

Spoonflower is continuing to hire across various departments to support customer demand, and in preparation for 2021 growth initiatives.
