Sanderson Design Group Returns to Voysey House After Nearly a Century
London, UK – July 2025– dMFK Architects has proudly announced that its refurbishment of the iconic Voysey House has been shortlisted in the prestigious Conservation and Heritage category at the Architects’ Journal's AJ Retrofit & Reuse Awards.
Originally designed as a wallpaper factory by C.F.A. Voysey, the Grade II* listed building has undergone a sensitive yet ground-breaking revival to bring it into the modern era.
Commissioned by investor-developer Dorrington PLC, dMFK’s comprehensive refurbishment transformed the historic structure, dramatically elevating its energy performance from an EPC rating of F to A.
This critical enhancement highlights the project’s commitment to sustainability while respecting the building’s rich heritage.
The Restoration Marks An Extraordinary Full-Circle Moment For Voysey House, As Its Original Occupiers, Sanderson Design Group Plc, Have Returned To The Premises Nearly A Century After Departing.
Sanderson first left the building in 1928, following a fire, but now reclaims its place within this historic architectural gem.
“We are thrilled to see Voysey House recognised for its careful balance of conservation and transformation,” said dMFK. “This project exemplifies how heritage architecture can be revitalised to meet present-day sustainability standards while honouring its historic significance.”
The project was executed with collaboration at its heart, harnessing the expertise of contractor Ambit alongside the design leadership of dMFK’s team, including Mathilda Lewis, Joshua Scott, and Daniel Cooper-Kempski.
