The World’s Toughest Row – An Epic Journey
The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge is known as the world’s toughest rowing event. The grueling adventure spans over 3000 miles, and requires a relentless cycle of rowing for 2 hours and sleeping for 2 hours, around the clock.
Imagine rowing continuously for 24 hours a day! Rowers burn an astounding 5,000 calories per day, and on average, lose 12kg during the crossing. He’ll start from the Canary Islands and conclude in Antigua & Barbuda.
It’s an incredible test of physical and mental fortitude!
Nick Hollis & The Challenge
In late 2021 I was ready to take on the World's Toughest Row – a 3000-mile Solo journey from La Gomera to Antiqua in support of our partner World Land Trust. Unfortunately, Long Covid had other plans, forcing me to withdraw from the race – A major low point on the 721 Challenge journey.
At this stage, the logical decision was to give up my 721 Challenge dream and live a sedentary life. However, the ‘voice in my head’ kept saying Never Give Up… Great advice for anyone going through tough times.
Since completing the South Pole, my feet haven’t touched the ground preparing for the next chapter on the 721 Challenge journey – my @Atlantic Campaign. The hard work has paid off, and I’m excited to introduce you all to Captain Tinker’s new favourite toy; the Atlantic vessel KRAKEN.
A massive thank you to our new 721 Challenge partner PressOn UK who applied the fantastic wrap using recyclable material. I’d also like to thank my amazing friends, partners and sponsors whose ongoing support has made this possible - you guys are amazing!
Where PressOn comes in
To ensure his boat is both visually stunning and durable, he approached us to wrap it with a top-notch material that will look 10/10 throughout his entire journey.
The livery was printed using Water based ink from our HP Latex printers.
We had a limited amount of time so being able to print the livery and apply it straight away was important.
PressOn love working with HP as they are equally invested in providing Sustainable Printing Solutions so this felt like the perfect fit!
We’re thrilled to announce that phase one of the boat wrap has been successfully completed.
Nick has taken the boat back for further training, and in the coming weeks, we’ll finish the project to ensure his vessel is ready to conquer the mighty Atlantic.
Supporting Conservation With The World Land Trust
Nick is carrying out this remarkable challenge in aid of The World Land Trust, a conservation charity dedicated to protecting the world’s most biologically significant and threatened habitats acre by acre.
“The money that is given to the World Land Trust, in my estimation, has more effect on the wild world than almost anything I can think of.”– Sir David Attenborough
