Pantone’s 2024 Color Of The Year Symbolizes Human Compassion And Connection

On Thursday, Pantone announced its 2024 color of the year: Peach Fuzz.
With all of the color predictions rolling in at the end of the year, perhaps the most anticipated one is Pantone’s Color of the Year—Pantone is considered the leading global color authority across various industries after all.
The world collectively holds its breath for the announcement, and now we can all exhale, because they just revealed their Color of the Year 2024, Peach Fuzz, a sherbet-like orange hue.
The sweet and soft shade is a vast departure from last year’s color, Viva Magenta, a bold and dramatic crimson red.
It’s a hue that the company described in a news release as variously “gentle,” “velvety,” “contemporary” and “nurturing.” In other words, a pretty hardworking hue.
The shade was selected by human trend prognosticators who travel around the world surveying fashion and design and otherwise predicting what is next.
Peach Fuzz marks the 25th iteration of the program.
For Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, this year's color selection is especially significant, given that it's the 25th anniversary of the Pantone Color of the Year program.
To Pressman, the curation of a color that is synonymous with human connection is symbolic of not only this year, but the overall goal of the program itself.
“With this year’s Pantone Color of the Year 2024, we see an increased focus on community and people across the world reframing how they want to live and evaluating what is important–that being the comfort of being close to those we love," Pressman said in a statement. "The color is one whose warm and welcoming embrace conveys a message of compassion and whose cozy sensibility brings people together and enriches the soul. In the spirit of PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, we reflect back on the last 25 years of the Pantone Color of the Year program, grateful to provide an avenue where designers and color enthusiasts all over the world can engage in a conversation about color, be inspired by color and showcase their creativity within their communities."
