Muraspec’s Bespoke Digitally Printed Wallcoverings Breathe Dramatic New Life Into The Chiswick Cinema
The Chiswick Cinema commissioned Caulder Moore, a London brand agency, to transform its dated décor and branding whilst respecting its heritage dating back to 1934, the opulent Art Deco era.
Caulder Moore chose to partner with Muraspec on the bespoke digital murals required for the private meeting rooms.
A replication of marble with gold inlays in bold geometric lines were desired to evoke a feeling of splendour.
With the walls typically uneven in places, it was essential that the measurements were precise to produce a perfect, bespoke wallcovering first time.
Muraspec’s dedicated digital team worked alongside the designers to produce the first samples and layout proofs before manufacturing.
Several samples were made before the client confirmed their approval.
The Solution
Muraspec’s digital team created a design file with lines to fit the space.
They used their Gold foil material (Manufactured in house/ with the maximum fire rating cover of Euroclass B) and covered 95% of the surface with our white ink fill and the marble effect, leaving the lines in the file blank.
The white fill effectively means the gold is covered up and the print looks like marble.
Where the file is blank, this allowed the gold foil to shine through with high reflectivity and created the effect of gold inlays.
With Muraspec’s rich history and vast experience of manufacturing wallcoverings, they were able to identify which of their own base materials would deliver the best finished print that wouldn’t detract from the design and would endure the test of time.
Muraspec’s in-house state-of-the-art digital printers, coupled with their own made base materials were an obvious choice for the designers.
Precise detail and elegance were no ‘after thought’ in the project.
Muraspec collaborated with the contractors and decorators, offering guidance on installation techniques to ensure a seamless finish.
Their responsive team were able to deliver the finished product within the tight time constraints.
The End-Product
The opulent marble effect with gold geometric forms of the digital print, complement the soft furnishings, dramatic lighting and elegant curves, offering a luxurious and exclusive ambience.
The result was a stylish and stunning space, opening five screen cinema doors to avid movie goers who have missed such an important social destination within the heart of the Chiswick community.
