Me llamo Gina !
I am a textile designer out of Bay Area California. I was born in the bay but was raised between Nayarit and Michoacan Mexico.
I love to visually explore my culture and the stories around me, I would say my community is where I derive most of my inspiration from.
Gina Isela Ayala was born in Santa Rosa California, and spent her childhood living between her mothers hometown Ruiz Nayarit, Mexico and her own hometown Santa Rosa, Ca.
Growing up simultaneously in two completely different parts of the world, one the suburbs, and the other a small town on a virgin Mexican coast she began to intertwine the colors, textures, and styles that she picked up from each place along the years.
As a designer she now reflects her upbringing into concepts and collections where one can take a dive into her core memories through color, texture and design.
Her New Collection : Lucid Dreams
This collection is a collaboration between fashion designer Amber Kuia and I.
It is called Lucid Dreams and is a collection that dives into the world of our dreams.
The collection has a wide variety of textiles that allows for the viewer to embark on a colorful journey through each garment, the collection is conceptually the gap between dream and reality.
The concept of the collection is Amber and I’s dreams.
The collection is unique due to the fact that some of the prints that I made include photographs of Amber and I.
Just as the viewer journeys on through my world of dreams through our fabrics
The prints are meant to represent what you would find inside my psyche.
We used materials such as vinyl and faux fur, which counteracted the business of the patterned garments very well.
