Leading Spanish Manufacturer Embamat Is First To Install Kongsberg C66 With Feeder And Stacker
One of Spain’s leading industrial packaging manufacturers has become the first in the world to install the state-of-the-art Kongsberg C66 with the Kongsberg Feeder & Stacker, automating the manufacture of its protective foams and packaging.
Embamat has installed the largest in the Kongsberg C series of digital finishing tables, complete with the Kongsberg Automate board feeder and stacker, at its Barcelona facility.
The acquisition is part of a strategic plan for significant investment in technology, which will automate the plant and lead it towards Industry 4.0, improving productivity and efficiency in order to continue offering the highest quality and best service to its customers.
Esteve Amat, Embamat’s General Manager, highlighted the company’s expertise in solving the packaging requirements of its customers and, above all, in providing added value through improving the packaging and preparation processes of their shipments, optimizing and making each stage of the supply chain more profitable.
“We were looking for a digital finishing table that was both strong enough to handle the toughest of jobs and that could consistently deliver the highest quality without compromising on speed,” said Esteve. “With its build quality and reliability, the Kongsberg C66 was the right choice, and the combination of high-speed cutting with the automated board feeding ensured we were able to increase our overall production capacity.”
Amadeu Maurel, Territory Sales Manager with Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems, said: “The C66 table is unique in that it has a carbon composite traverse which combines speed with quality, even when working with materials spanning as much as 3.2 meters. As a producer of industrial packaging, Embamat needed a digital finishing table that was robust enough to handle the incredibly strong and thick materials used in their manufacture. With the Kongsberg C66, they benefit not only from the rock-solid engineering and aerospace technology which has earned the C series its reputation, but also from the durability and reliability of an aluminum composite tabletop, a rack and pinion drive system and unrivalled cutting accuracy and consistency.”
“The board feeder and stacker is a pallet-to-pallet solution that enables Embamat to increase productivity,” said Amadeu. “With its stack height of 915 mm/36 in and quick automatic load cycles, it is the optimal solution for short run production on all typical packaging and display materials. Importantly, it can easily cope with the heavy-duty materials Embamat uses in its packaging.”
Amadeu added that the complex nature of the industrial packaging produced by Embamat underlined the strength and accuracy of the Kongsberg C66.
“This is no ordinary setup,” he said. “The Embamat team works with everything from micro to triple-wave cardboard and technical foams ranging from 10mm up to 50mm thick through to plastic board,” he said. “We take great pride in the fact that the Kongsberg C66 deals with these materials easily, delivering the best quality results every time.”
