CMYUK Customer 2601 Creative Print Presented With Kavalan Green Leader Powerhouse Award At CMYUK Open House

CMYUK, Shrewsbury, 19th June 2026: CMYUK customer, 2601 Creative Print has been officially presented with Kavalan’s Green Leader Award at CMYUK’s Open House Event in Shrewsbury, after being unable to collect the trophy in person at FESPA, Barcelona.

This marks the second year of the Kavalan Green Leader Awards, which celebrates print companies across Europe using Kavalan’s PVC-free materials in creative, technically demanding, and high-impact applications.

2601 received The Powerhouse Award for its large-scale transformation of the Children’s Department at the Royal United Hospitals in Bath. The project saw a traditionally clinical healthcare environment reimagined into a bright, immersive, and uplifting space, designed to help reassure young patients, support families, and create a more positive setting for staff.

Steve Williamson, 2601’s founding director, said, “We’re delighted to have won The Powerhouse Award and very pleased to have collected it at CMYUK’s Open House.

This project meant a lot to us because it was about creating something positive for children, families, and staff. Kavalan Gecko, supplied by CMYUK, gave us the quality, durability and seamless finish we needed, while also supporting a more eco-responsible approach to material choice.”

A Simple But Powerful Brief

When the Royal United Hospitals Bath contacted 2601’s sales account manager, Del Mottershaw, the brief was clear: create a space that felt joyful, engaging, and reassuring for children, families and staff.

The hospital wanted to soften the clinical feel of the department and create an environment that could offer a sense of comfort, distraction, and escapism for children who may be anxious, frightened, or undergoing treatment.

2601’s response was to design, print, and install more than 250 square metres of Kavalan Gecko 320GB Greyback PVC-Free wallcovering, supplied by CMYUK as the exclusive UK distributor of Kavalan materials in the UK and Ireland.

The graphics, created in-house by 2601’s graphic designer, Jason Andrew, depict a vivid woodland-themed environment filled with colour, animals, storytelling details, and playful visual moments.

CMYUK and Kavalan

The relationship between 2601 and CMYUK began through Paul Warwick, CMYUK Regional Sales Manager, South, who established regular contact with the business, building a strong supplier-customer relationship.

Over the years, Paul has supported 2601 with access to specialist materials, product advice, and responsive account management, particularly where applications demand the right balance of visual finish, performance, installation behaviour, and environmental responsibility.

Kavalan Gecko offers a combination of PVC-free construction, print quality, durability, and scuff resistance. It has a greyback structure, polyester base, and PVC – free resin coating, while fire ratings and compliance credentials support use in busy public interiors.

Available in widths up to 5m and suitable for Latex and UV inks, Kavalan Gecko enabled 2601 to produce large single piece visual scenes without joins.

This was essential to the finished aesthetic, allowing the woodland graphics to flow across the department as a continuous visual journey rather than a series of separate panels.

“We’ve been using Kavalan Gecko for four years, and we’re extremely happy with it,” said Paul Johnson, founding director, 2601.  “Our team values Kavalan Gecko for the way it combines a lighter-weight construction with real substance. It’s easy for installers to handle but has enough body and coverage to deal with imperfect and uneven walls, delivering a smooth, premium finish in spaces where the quality of the final surface really matters.”
