About Salone Del Mobile
Specifically, the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2023 will see three important innovations: it will be laid out on a single exhibition level, with the exhibitors on the upper pavilions (8-12, 16-20) relocated to the lower ones to simplify, improve and enhance the enjoyment and experience of the visit;
The new layout of Euroluce which, from being stand-centric, will restore people and enjoyment of the Event to the center, thanks to a more practical smart ring-shaped layout; the cultural component, usually developed in the traditional event in the city, will also be best expressed in the spaces of the biennial Euroluce through interdisciplinary and experiential contents, ranging from architecture to art with exhibitions, talks, workshops and site-specific installations.
The Designer
Irene van Ophoven is a Dutch designer, stylist and founder of Studio Irene van Ophoven, based in Rotterdam.
She helps clients to stand out from the pack by providing a strong and distinctive look through creative direction and designing a signature for spaces.
The studio creates patterns and designs and develops interior applications and concepts.
Geometric motifs in life-size graphic designs are her signature style. Irene is fascinated by textiles, their tactile aspects and how patterns can turn a space into a meaningful place.
With her strong sense of aesthetics and refined perception of colour, she creates unique designs.
Distinctive interiors such as hotels, open lofts and large office spaces, are perfect for her work.
Her textile and surface pattern designs are often the result of experiment and research and the desire to make a connection between the digital screen and the canvas of the ‘real’ physical world.
In the development process, handicraft techniques such as screen printing and colour or material tests are often the starting point for her concepts and applied designs. The end-results are life-size feature walls, rugs, wall hangings, artworks or wall-art panels and small furniture.
Besides autonomous design work, Studio Irene van Ophoven regularly participates in creative collaborations with customers in the field of concept, design and styling.
For interior architects and for various brands she makes bespoke designs to match a desired ambience in interior projects with right narratives, colours, materials and patterns.
Living With Patterns At Masterly, Milan
In Milan (Masterly, The Dutch Pavilion - curated by Nicole Uniquole) Irene van Ophoven presents a new textile collection of signature pieces with her own playful interpretation of the Bauhaus story: between applied art and design.
In this new series, created exclusively for MONDiLAB - Next Level Textiles, Irene found the right combination of tactile crafts, art and digital techniques.
The collection of Studio Irene van Ophoven consists of framed velvet wall art, wool carpets and beautiful cushions for a complete arrangement of modern interiors.
The works combine colours, shapes and graphic lines in a playful and individual manner. At the Masterly venue Irene expands her imagination with truly living patterns.
She transforms a 2-dimensional design into a 3-dimensional stackable stool that brings fun and function to the indoor space.
