i-dott Launches 2026 Surface Pattern Design Competition to Foster Innovation

i-dott, a leading organisation dedicated to advancing the surface pattern design industry, has officially announced the launch of its 2026 Surface Pattern Design Competition.

This prestigious event invites student designers to showcase their creativity and innovation by responding to a series of forward-thinking design briefs.

The competition is structured to challenge and inspire the next generation of designers, featuring three distinct categories sponsored by prominent industry leaders.

The Briefs For 2026 Are :

1.     "The Road to a Greener Future," sponsored by the British Coatings Federation;

2.     "Elemental Nature," sponsored by Surface Print;

3.     "Modern Luxury," sponsored by Panaz.

Each category encourages entrants to explore unique themes and push the boundaries of contemporary design.

In addition to the main categories, the competition will also present two special accolades to recognise outstanding talent.

The Masterpiece Award, sponsored by IGI – The Global Wallcoverings Association, will honour the most exceptional design submission overall.

Furthermore, the AVA Training Award, sponsored by AVA CAD CAM, will provide a valuable educational opportunity to a promising designer, underscoring the competition's commitment to professional development.

The competition is open to student designers, who are encouraged to request the comprehensive entry pack.

The pack includes the full design briefs for all three categories, the competition timetable, an entry form, detailed guidance on rules and processes, and the necessary technical specifications.

Educational tutors interested in integrating the competition into their curriculum are also invited to make contact to discuss collaboration.

The 2026 i-dott Surface Pattern Design Competition represents a significant opportunity for emerging talent to gain industry recognition and connect with leading brands.

Submissions will be accepted starting in August 2025.
