EFI Reggiani Celebrate Easter With Production Of The Only Authorised Digital Textile Print Of The Famous Turin Shroud
#EFIReggiani is really proud to collaborate with Linificio e Canapificio Nazionale S.r.l and TORRI LANA 1885 S.R.L. to enhance local excellence by networking within the territory and to bring to the world the incredible combination of tradition and technology of Bergamo's textile art.
The #LinoValGandino project aims to reproduce, on a 1: 1 scale, replicas of the famous linen sheet of Jesus Christ, certified by the Museum of the Shroud in collaboration with the International Center of Study on the Shroud, and distribute replicas in various churches around the world.
Using the EFI Reggiani TERRA GOLD digital printer, the process of #pigment printing was chosen to replicate the Shroud.
A sustainable choice, that at the same time, guarantees excellent fastness properties and high printability sharpness, combined with the incredible level of colour durability
The Shroud Museum in Turin, in collaboration with the International Centre for Shroud Studies, has overseen the printing phases carried out at the EFI Reggiani headquarters in Grassobbio (BG), one of the largest companies in the world for analog and digital textile printing.
The printing of scale sheets 1:1 (mt. 4.41 x 1.13 the measurements of the original Shroud) provides the use of a digital printing press very high resolution to return all the details of the original fabric, to the point that the "file" needs memory of an entire PC to be managed.
The replicas, certified by the Shroud Museum in collaboration with the International Centre for Shroud Studies, will be distributed in different churches around the world.
EFI Reggiani And The Turin Shroud Digital Textile Print
Reggiani was born in 1946, quickly becoming a pole of excellence recognized at the level of development and production of textile machinery.
In 2015, was purchased by the American multinational EFI and is now world leader in the design and production of printing (analog and digital) and pre and post-treatment lines of textile.
For reproductions of the Shroud, the pigment printing process, which guarantees results of printing of extreme accuracy in details and nuances, combined incredible performance over time of the colors that are used.
Another very delicate step, the printing carried out by Efi Reggiani di Grassobbio, among the top companies in the world for analog and digital textile printing.
The printing of the sheets on a 1:1 scale (4.41 x 1.13 meters the measurements of the original Shroud) provided for the use of a very high resolution digital printing press.
For an optimal result, Reggiani's technicians started from the sampling of the face of Jesus in six different variants.
The challenge compared to a normal print was the impossibility of confronting the original, but the result is summed up in only one adjective: exciting.
In this it has helped the experience of technologists and press experts of the company and their deep sensitivity to the color and its digital reproduction.
The machine used is called TERRA Gold which together with the homonymous process of pigment printing eliminates the need for vaporization, washing and post-treatment of the tissue
Being a short process, it allows significantly reduce the consumption of water, energy and chemicals, also making it a solution in the name of environmental sustainability.
