Durst And Georg+Otto-Friedrich Help Niggemeyer Pro Imaging Celebrate 700 Years Of Bochum History
Niggemeyer Pro Imaging, together with the fabric company Georg+Otto-Friedrich and Durst Group AG, have produced a dramatic and colourful artwork by the book illustrator Christoph Baum on a total of 150 printed fabrics as part of Bochum's 700th anniversary.
These will be made available to schools and daycare centers in Bochum and, laid side by side, results in a total length of 1,800 meters.
This image shows in an aspect ratio of 12:1 (if the height is set to 1 meter, results in a length (width) of 12 meters) major events in the city's history in the last 700 years.
City-typical scenes, buildings and "stories" can be found in the extreme landscape format, depicted chronologically from left to right in the smallest picture details.
On the basis of the tiny, very loving and above all for the childlike taste almost masterful depictions, the picture invites the viewer to explore the history of the city of Bochum "year after year" and to question details of the picture with "Where, What and Who" exactly.
The individual pictures are provided with Velcro/fluff strips at the beginning and end, so that after "rolling out" and connecting all individual images, a coherent path of about 1800 meters in length can actually be created.
The complete product is environmentally friendly and a good example of sustainable production.
The prints were realized on the recycled fabric 7058 with the Durst Rhotex 325.
"As an entrepreneur from Bochum, I am happy to support such a project. When I first saw the artwork, I immediately accepted the request to realize it" says Managing Director Roland Niggemeyer.
The production of the fabric prints took place in the so-called dye-sub direct printing process, i.e. the printed polyester fabric was callendered at about 200 degrees after printing, so that the ink anchors in the material as well as in textile fabrics.
The DURST Rhotex325 press used for this purpose has a print width of 320 cm and produces highly brilliant fabric prints with approx. 100 sqm/hour in high resolution and very small pixel size.
The printed material is absolutely weather-resistant and washable up to 40 degrees.
The substrate itself is made of recycled polyester material, which is certified according to Ökotex standard 100.
The producer of the fabric is the company Georg+Otto-Friedrich from Groß-Zimmern in Hesse.
The water-based ink is also certified, absolutely odorless and VOC emission-free.
