CorelPainter 2023 Delivers A Faster And More Creative Digital Painting Experience
Latest upgrade delivers accelerated workflows and new creative tools that make it easier for artists to create exceptional work
June, 2022 : Responding to users’ top requests, Painter 2023 delivers a must-have upgrade that expands creative possibilities with new Fluid Paint technology, an improved Selections workflow, and new Color Selection control.
Various user-requested improvements to key features offers professional and aspiring artists a game-changing digital art studio that makes it faster and easier for users to achieve their unique creative vision.
Painter® is a tool of choice for artists looking for the freedom to create realistic hand-painted results while working across a variety of industries, including entertainment, illustration, photography, manga and fine art.
Here’s what’s new in Painter® 2023!
Create The Smoothest Strokes With New Fluid Paint
Gently build up paint, blend, sculpt, glaze, add texture and reflective light easily with new Fluid Paint technology, and enjoy unmatched opacity control and smoothness in each brush stroke.
Built to take advantage of layer transparency, Fluid Paint lets you build up and combine paint softly with reduced dab or stroke overlap.
New Fluid Paint technology in Painter 2023 delivers greater opacity control and makes it easy to create smooth brush strokes
Easily add and blend paint in ultra-smooth strokes to sculpt your composition with greater control and reveal more or less grain to give your art textural interest.
Highly versatile and powerful, these brushes address pain points for comic, concept and storyboard artists who are trying to achieve gentle transparency build up, hyper smooth airbrushing or glazing, and help traditional artists achieve more natural blending with wet and oily textures.
Repaint, Edit, And Adjust Faster With Improved Selections
Artists can enjoy a more intuitive selections workflow with enhanced visibility of selected areas, bringing critical controls forward, and improving most used Selection tools.
A color overlay option has been added to selection tools for improved visibility of selected areas.
Especially useful for selections with complex shapes and transparency, the overlay helps to speed up the creation, editing, and refinement of a selection.
You can also customize overlays and save them as presets for particular projects.
Visualize only marquee, only overlay, or both, as per your preference, plus a new cursor for Lasso and Polygonal is now easier to see and helps select precisely.
Create faster with an improved Selections workflow
Speed up your workflows with the new Selection Panel that gives you quick access to all controls while performing selection-intensive tasks.
Quickly feather your selections with a handy slider in the property bar and adjust up to 2000px.
You can now use improved keyboard shortcuts to switch from addition or subtractive selection modes.
A selection is auto-applied when creating a mask and several other enhancements make Selections faster and more predictable.
Select Areas Based On Color With Brushes
Combine the power of a Magic Wand and the versatility of a Selection Brush to quickly select portions of an image based on color.
The new Color Selection gives you complete control as you brush over areas of the same color to create a selection allowing you to easily change colors, lighting, add textures or effects to the selected area.
Enjoy more creative control with new Color Selection capabilities
Pick a Selection Brush of any shape and enable the Color Selection option on the property bar, or simply choose a pre-built Color Selection brush.
Select areas on your canvas based on color, and grab more or less of an area by easily adjusting color and brightness tolerance with handy sliders.
Color selection brushes offer the ability to have both hard (aliased) or smooth (anti-aliased) edges, so you can work with artwork of different styles.
User-Requested Enhancements
Taking direct requests from the Painter community, Painter 2023 accelerates your workflow with a number of improvements and enhancements to many key features.
Artists can enjoy easier image placements and center alignment, improved responsiveness while using square bracket keys to resize brushes, Magic Wand, Paint Bucket and Dropper tools, remembering last used settings, and precise gradient filling tools for an unforgettable painting experience.
Colour Is Too Important to Leave to Chance
Print will always be the part of the garment people see first.
But the sum of all parts — the fabric, the trims, the fasteners, the finish — is what determines whether a design actually delivers on its promise. Brands that continue to treat colour as a single creative decision, rather than a coordinated technical discipline spanning their entire supply chain, will keep paying for it in re-dips, delays, and disappointed design teams.
A Century of Textiles, and an Ever-changing World
Few companies can trace their roots back more than a century and still count themselves among their industry's innovators. Texia, headquartered in Monistrol de Montserrat, Spain, is one of them.
But the story of Texia is not simply one of longevity.
It is a story of continual reinvention. As the textile industry has grown more global and competitive, Texia has repeatedly reshaped its business, investing in technology, developing its own brands, and placing sustainability at the centre of its mission. In doing so, it offers a compelling example of how a heritage manufacturer can lead rather than follow through a period of profound industry change. Image Credit: Texia
What are we craving Ultimately?
The instinct to slow down while simultaneously optimising every measurable aspect of life isn't a passing curiosity. It's a structural response to a world that feels increasingly unstable, and it's reshaping what people expect from their homes, hotels, workplaces and healthcare environments alike.
For the design and manufacturing sectors, this means rethinking both product and process.
The Structual Shift is Real and its Already Here
Volumes are moving east, where digital production is accelerating rapidly. Consumer behaviour has shifted.
Demand is now driven by personalisation, shorter buying cycles, and an expectation of near-instant responsiveness. Regulatory pressure is intensifying, with supply chain transparency now a legal and commercial fact in many markets. And margins? They are under sustained, structural pressure.
This is not a temporary disruption. It is a fundamental reordering of how textile manufacturing must operate.
The Challenge: Standing Firm as the Industry Shifts
The wallpaper landscape has changed dramatically. Digital printing has lowered the barrier to entry, spawning countless direct-to-consumer brands and pushing much of the market towards faster, cheaper production.
At the same time, manufacturing in the UK has grown steadily harder - rising minimum wage, national insurance, energy and substrate costs all bear down on margins. Surface Print have embraced all of these challenges - and stand resolutely prepared for the future.
From Helsinki's printing mill to Paris's Le Marais, discover how Marimekko is scaling a design-led brand with purpose, craft, and bold innovation.
But what makes Marimekko's story compelling is not just its aesthetic legacy?
The word "toxic" carries weight. It conjures danger, harm, and things best avoided.
“Yet in the textile industry - Where between 3,000 and 10,000 chemicals move through the supply chain, a reflexive fear of the term is one of our biggest obstacles to progress.”
This article distils the key takeaways and what buyers, designers, and brands should be asking right now.
What Is the Digital Product Passport?
At its core, a Digital Product Passport is a digital record attached to a physical product - For a printed textile product, this means the DPP would capture data on the substrate, inks and dyes used, the printing process and technology, chemical compliance, environmental impact (including water and energy use), supply chain traceability, and end-of-life instructions.
The Market Gap that Changed Everything
Future Fashion was founded in 2019, timed deliberately to coincide with a pivotal moment in global textile technology: the commercial launch of the EFI Reggiani BOLT Single-Pass digital printing system.
The founders recognised that single-pass architecture had fundamentally changed what was industrially possible - and that Pakistan's domestic market had yet to catch up.
China Print Supplies has expanded its textile offering with nine Gongzheng Apsaras printers, covering dye sublimation, direct-to-fabric pigment printing and hybrid working.

You can learn more about these printers by talking to China Print Supplies at The Print Show later this month (stands S220 and S420).
