ARTS THREAD Announces Call For Applications ─ Designers In Residence Pforzheim 2027

London – UK – September 2026 – ARTS THREAD has announced the call for applications for the Designers in Residence Pforzheim 2027 programme, a fully funded three-month residency hosted at EMMA Creative Center Pforzheim.

The residency will run from 1 April to 30 June 2027, offering emerging designers a rare opportunity to develop their practice within a dedicated creative environment.

Applications close on 2 November 2026 at 23:59 CET.

The programme is open to young designers working across industrial and communication design, jewellery, and fashion, as well as other design disciplines.

Interdisciplinary approaches are explicitly encouraged, reflecting a broader shift within the design industry towards collaborative, cross-sector innovation.

As the creative landscape continues to evolve at pace, opportunities like this residency are becoming increasingly vital.

They give early-career designers the time, space, and resources to explore bold ideas without the commercial pressures of a traditional studio setting.

For three months, selected participants will work full-time at EMMA Creative Center Pforzheim, immersing themselves in a working environment built to support experimentation and rigorous creative development.

Interested designers are invited to apply with a project idea via the official application link.

ARTS THREAD encourages applicants to think ambitiously and to use the residency as a platform for pushing their discipline forward, whether that means challenging established design conventions or addressing pressing questions around sustainability and ethical practice within the industry.

The Designers in Residence Pforzheim programme has, in previous years, served as a launchpad for designers seeking to refine their creative voice and expand their professional networks within a supportive, internationally-minded community.

The 2027 edition continues this legacy, reinforcing Pforzheim's reputation as a hub for design innovation.

Full details on eligibility, application requirements, and submission guidelines are available via the official residency page.
