An EFI VuTEk LED Roll-To-Roll D3r Printer Saves Nora Distribution of Strasbourg 150 Hours Of Cutting
With the EFI VUTEk LED roll-to-roll D3r printer , NORA Distribution has taken on the challenge of reconciling opposites by responding to the two major challenges of tomorrow: price and the environment.
Nora Distribution and EFI VUTEk have been traveling companions since 1999.
After two EFI VUTEk h5 hybrid inkjet, NORA now have a VUTEk D3r LED roll-to-roll which integrates the Alsatian workshop.
Nora works mainly for retail (boutiques, store chains), suppliers of the large distribution, car dealerships, etc.
NORA Distribution (45 people), located about fifteen kilometers north of Strasbourg, has a vast building of almost 6,000 m 2 , more than half of which is intended for production and its machine park, 100% EFI VUTEk , is at the top.
In mid-December 2020, the new EFI VUTEk D3r LED roll-to-roll printer entered the workshop in addition to the H5 hybrid flatbed tables.
“ The H5s are high performance: delivering up to 1200 dpi resolution with the ability to print up to nine layers in a single pass for productivity up to 109 panels measuring 1.20 x 2.40 m per hour. Their hybrid configuration also allowed us to occasionally place orders on a roll but without the possibility of cutting at the exit. We therefore asked ourselves the question of investing in a dedicated roll machine in order, in the same spirit, to offer high quality volume but by combining it with a system of direct cutting out of the machine. "
Logically, Nora Distribution has renewed its confidence in EFI by opting for the VUTEk D3r. It is configured in 4 colors plus white, with the technology UltraDrop TM native pl 7 for an actual resolution of 1200 dpi.
“ We don't have a very frequent need for the white option, but why clamp the machine? We use it for adhesive materials and both its quality and its opacity guarantee excellent results. Overall, it provides better smoothness in shadows and gradients, total tracking precision for small characters, ”notes Audrey.
NORA Distribution initially relied on existing markets to justify the investment in the EFI VUTEk D3r LED roll-to-roll printer.
“ It quickly saved us around 150 hours of cutting… This made it possible to distribute the workload in the workshop much more efficiently by freeing up human time. After a few months, we see that our bet is already on the way to being won. For volume, we save a lot on the processing station.
Audrey Altmeyer-Stoll naturally reflected on new markets in which to position herself flexibly in a relevant way thanks to this printer because the products that come out are almost finalized.
" Many of our customers are looking beyond print to finished and shaped products . A large distribution or food clientele for signage and communication but also retail with tiled panels, decorative elements, communication support materials, etc. We were already touching this type of market a little, but this new equipment positions us in an efficient and very competitive way for everything related to adhesives. LED technology associated with inks allows us to be relevant on exterior and interior calls for tenders, both thanks to their durability and to the ecological plan. "
Both in terms of ink consumption and energy, the VUTEk D3r remains very economical. “ The Covid crisis will undoubtedly further accentuate the transformation of our businesses and reinforce two issues that could appear contradictory: price and the environment.
