Worn Again Technologies Unveils Accelerator Plant To Scale Pioneering Textile-To-Fibre Recycling Process
Nottingham, UK - 6 March 2026 – Worn Again Technologies has announced the start-up of its Textile-to-Fibre Accelerator plant in Winterthur, Switzerland, marking a major step towards commercialising its chemical recycling technology.
The facility provides real-world validation of a process designed to recover and regenerate polyester and cellulose from end-of-life textiles, proving the technical and economic feasibility of polycotton recycling at scale.
With less than one per cent of clothes currently recycled and global textile production exceeding 120 million tonnes annually, the Accelerator arrives at a critical moment to address the escalating waste crisis driven by fast fashion.

The proprietary multi-solvent approach effectively separates complex materials, including dyes and elastane, while recovering over 95 per cent of the solvents used to ensure environmental responsibility.
The plant is being delivered in modules, with the first focused on recovering spinnable polyester from waste textiles sourced across Switzerland, the EU, and the UK. A subsequent module, currently in detailed engineering, will produce next-generation cellulosic fibres.
This facility serves as a vital platform for partner companies to evaluate feedstocks and validate the process across diverse textile streams. As production capacities grow, the company aims to secure binding commitments for a planned commercial-scale production plant.
