Kalopsia Collective supports local employment, the circular economy and reducing textile waste.

Her Royal Highness was accompanied by UKFT CEO Adam Mansell.

The visit also coincided with the launch of  Kalopsia Collective’s new ethical investment programme, offering new investment opportunities to support its work.

Adam Mansell said: “This visit by UKFT’s active and supportive President, HRH The Princess Royal was an opportunity to celebrate the excellent work of a member in the area of ethical and sustainable production. HRH’s visit was a moment for us all to celebrate the many successes of the industry.”

Adam Robertson, co-founder of Kalopsia Collective said: “We are delighted to start 2023 with both the launch of our Textile Production Bonds and a visit from Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal. We decided to use bonds to raise finance to grow Kalopsia Collective as the model is well suited to enterprises like ours with social and ethical aims. Whilst growing the UK’s textile manufacturing infrastructure, we are committed to reducing textile waste, creating sustainable local employment opportunities and ensuring that the circular economy is embedded in everything we do.”

 About Kalopsia

Kalopsia was established in 2012 by British / Swedish duo, Robertson & Falk.

Kalopsia began as a Textiles and design collective, running exhibitions around Europe that challenged the way textiles were seen.

They began by asking the question 'What is Textiles?' and used this to underpin everything that they have created since.

Today, Kalopsia Collective is an award-winning Textiles manufacturer operating as a Social Enterprise in Edinburgh’s busy creative and cultural port, Leith, with the aim to batch manufacture textile products more ethically and sustainably.

Kalopsia has been industry partners in sustainability projects, run feasibility pilots for a Government environmental agency, designed costumes for international performance groups and major TV and Film projects.

Also constructing murals for community and public spaces and been the manufacturer of product for large international clients.

Having undergone business training from Entrepreneurial Spark, SSE (Lloyds Bank Social Entrepreneurs Start Up Programme), Starter-for-6, Kalopsia has been able to established itself as not only a forward thinking creative business but also as a Social Enterprise.

Capable of competing against more traditional businesses. It is our hope that our platform can become a source of inspiration for any individual, company or organisation working in the field.
