New York, NY, September 30, 2019 – OnPoint Manufacturing, Inc., an innovative leader in on-demand personalized apparel manufacturing, announced today the arrival and installation of Gerber Technology’s new GERBERcutter® Z1 cutter and the AccuMark® suite of products at OnPoint’s headquarters in Florence, AL.

OnPoint employs a unique business model that focuses on reducing risk, which allows designers and brands the ability to focus on their core competencies.

Once a product is set up with OnPoint, the client may order as many or as few as one.

If required the factory ships directly to the client’s customer so that no person touches it a second time.

That means no warehousing, no minimum run length, and no inventory.

OnPoint’s on-demand manufacturing model is the most efficient and environmentally-friendly model today delivering exceptional value and quality by giving customers exactly what they want when they want it.

An example of the success of the model was demonstrated recently when it  was announced that The Fashion Institute of Technology's FIT/Infor DTech Lab had entered into a partnership with OnPoint Manufacturing, the first step towards the institution launching its own branded apparel and accessories lines designed, marketed and retailed by students.

The New York fashion college intends to leverage OnPoint’s technological capacities in fit personalization and its innovative supply chain strategies to produce a “wearable avant-garde” offering, including two womenswear collections – one aimed at the luxury market, the other at mid-market consumers.

The partnership will allow students in FIT’s Fashion Design, Technical Design, Fashion Business Management, Textile Development and Marketing, Advertising and Marketing Communications, and Communication Design programs to engage with new sustainable technologies to conceptualize, develop and sell designs.

Underwriting this will be the software and Industry 4.0 cutter installation which  is the next phase of a larger strategic partnership between OnPoint and Gerber Technology that was first announced in late 2018 when Gerber launched its FashionTech Platform 1.0.

The cutter, along with Gerber’s software suite, is the next step forward in moving toward optimization of end-to-end, on-demand manufacturing.

Use of Gerber’s software and technology will further drive costs down as software is integrated and open to other software allowing data to seamlessly pass from one step to another.

Ultimately this will streamline the entire process from design to final product by improving not only lead time, but also reducing costs and bottom line while reducing errors and waste.

OnPoint is focused on the further development of software to software communication to improve these efficiencies to get from creator to consumer more quickly.

“We are setting up for a total inline system where we can go from direct-to-print to direct-to-manufacturing,” said J. Kirby Best, CEO of OnPoint Manufacturing. “While we are still determining a final digital press solution, using Gerber’s software suite and automated cutting systems like the Z1 moves us closer to our end goal.
